My father is trying to marry a woman from the Philippines and he needs to know all the details about visas that sort of thing and the legal way of going about marrying her here in the united states.

both of the answers above are stupid. I am sorry to say that.

I have married my wife and she is from over seas. Just be married in any country leagally, register your marriage and the US will accept that marriage.

Once married, your father needs to file a form I-130 and the fees have just gone up to $355. Later more fees will be required, bringing the total to approx 1500-2000 USD.

If your father has a college degree and the case is a straight forward one, I will recommend not to get an attorney because all they do is just fill out the forms and charge your $2K-$3K.

As I said, anyone with a college degree can file the paper work them selves.
