Your hands get so dirty and your clothes too. Is it worth it to you?

OF COURSE!! At least whenever my empty hook isn't grabbed and baited for me. Earthworms, shrimp, mullet, a few crabs... as for hands and clothes getting dirty, what's that matter? They won't be dirty and bait-smelling by the time you go hang out with your friends... just go home and get a shower before going out among people who don't appreciate the smell of what you've got under your fingernails, go to your local thrift store and buy some decent used clothes for cheap (and help out a local charity), and it doesn't matter how stained up/stinky/bloody/fish-poopy they get, they're thrift store clothes.

Is it worth it? HECK YEAH!!

Yes, I bait my own hook, have been since I was 5. Live bait usually consists of worms or minnows (sometimes spikes (maggots) in the winter - yucky).

Hands and clothes DO get dirty, so true. But that is why they invented washing machines and soap.

It is most definitely worth it. I love to fish, and without it, I am cranky (so my husband makes sure there is plenty of time for fishing - OR ELSE!, lol)

Have a great night, and I hope you have fun, and catch LOTS of fish.

Yes I do & anyone else who may need me to do so.If I didn't I could never go fishing alone or venture off to myself.
As far as bait,I've tried a lot & it depends on what I'm fishing for as to what bait I use. But,what I use or have used more often are hot dogs, stink bait, corn, jelly worms,ac shiners,& a few homemade ones.
Although I suppose you can get dirty I don't look at it as a dirty sport or hobby. But then again,I don't mind getting dirty.
Any chance at fishing whether I catch anything or not is worth it.Not only for the sport, hobby, relaxation & challenge but to enjoy the nature both on land & in the water.

Unless you're little and yer Gampa takes ya fishin', YES, you bait your own hook. And take your fish off the hook by yourself too. And, Yes, it's fun. The best, in fact. And that lovely aroma & the dirt you get on you is half the fun. You use lot's of things for bait, worms, grasshoppers, cheese, salmon eggs, various commercial baits, chicken livers, sardines, anchovies, leeches, (all quite aromatic) (smelly) If you ain't into all that goes with it, fishin' ain't for you maybe... Maybe you should just go to the library..............

Yes I do, and I do it for most people I fish with (when I meet a woman that can do it herself I might consider co-marriage, her and fishing) as well as drive the boat, net the fish, buy the gas, clean the fish, cook the fish, etc...there are those who do because they can and there are those who watch but do not really want to know how :) It's all fun! Meat (nightcrawlers), metal (spoons, spinners) and wood (rapalas) are my favorite "baits".

Yes I do bait my hooks

However—I also do the same for my two young granddaughters. 6 and 8.

And consider it a pleasure to do it

Happy Fishing
