Contentment is the answer
"godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction." 1Tim 6:6-9
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Heb 13:5

The Bible says that it's the love of money that is the root of evil. So $ in itself isn't an issue but one that loves it. This love of $ can make people do some very stupid things. Like steeling it for drugs or gambling. A husband that works to get nice things but over works and never spends time with the wife and his children. Then of course greed comes into play also. Keeping up with the Jones' only to find out that the Jones' not in such good shape either. LOL
We only need 3 things that takes $. They are food, clothing and shelter. The 4th thing, which is the most important doesn't cost a penny. That's spirituality. That only comes from the knowledge of the Bible, God's Word. That's free to anyone wanting to know Jehovah God.

Only the ignorant say, 'money is the root of all evil', it's the LOVE OF that's the problem. Moreover, it doesn't include every possible kind of evil. There are seven traditional 'deadly sins' and vastly more things that can keep a person out of heaven. The abuse of sex is a biggie, but not all sex is a sin. And while politicians don't exactly get rich at what they do, the love of power has done vast amounts of harm to the human race.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

The love of money is the root of all evil, not money. You can not worship 2 masters, both God and money.
Jude 6 and Genesis 6:2 have nothing to do with the topic at hand
You keep from being like those people by placing God first in your life in all things, including money. Remember, every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord above.

Not Epicurus is dysfunctional. We all need money to survive and we all need money for fun (vacations, recreational). Where the line is drawn is "What do you want the money for?" Being rich is NOT evil. The Leader's of God's people in the OT was the "wealtheist" man on the face of the earth! It is the motives on why you want a lot of money. Money can bring lot's of good blessing's to other's (the poor, sick, disabled). If in life you had the blessing to becoming rich (blessing from God, means no corruption or bad motives), you need to turn around and bless other's. Like in the NT the Apostle's gave to the poor according to their needs. When you are blessed, God expects you to turn around and bless other's by sharing your blessings. Unfortunately people now days have become power driven so falled into the sin of corruption, evil motives, and greediness.
If you (any of you) have been a fallen innocent victim at the hands of one of these corruptor's, be sure and satisfied that the table will turn so keep walking in faith. Sooner than you think; you will be the head and not the tail.
In Jesus name, Amen & Amen.

Not to become attached to it. Not to judge your position in life on how much money you have.
I've a friend who won't spend any of his money and it's not because he knows he needs nothing but I think it's because he doesn't want to lose any of it. He doesn't want to go into debt over a car, a house, etc. He has grown attached to it.
If one can give their money out and truly see it for what it is, a tool, then one can avoid becoming attached to it. Attachment is the reason money becomes bad. It is a false sense that it'll cause happiness but a failure to see that it is a short lived happiness.

"Money is not the root of all evil, rather the Love of Money is the root of all evil........" There is a huge difference... It is the Greed of wanting more to the point many kill for it...
We do need money to live and pay bills etc... There is a huge difference between the two...

The bible says that money is the root of all sorts of injurious things, not ALL things. People will do most anything wrong to get it and to keep it. They will do all sorts of INJURIOUS things. Some of those things are evil.

It's the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Sheesh. It's the worshiping of money, the constant pursuit of money above all else. The total obsession with getting more and more and more money.

Like you brought out with the demons they wanted something they were not entitled to. They wanted to live with women and they were angels. So it is wanting something we are not entitled to.
Wanting support and wanting fame and power and wealth.
It is a love for something you are not entitled to.
