The aim will be to reduce the pressure which is the classic indication of simple glaucoma.

The raised pressure, left uncontrolled, is associated with nerve damage and loss of vision.

The drop does not cure your condition, it treats it.
It's not like a short course treatment with an antibiotic for an infection.
Were you to discontinue the drops the pressure would rise, and eye damage be liklely to ensue.
You will have periodic re-checks arranged, especially for checking the pressures and visual fields, to ensure the medication is effective.
If it is not adequate in controlling the glaucoma, other eye drops are available and beyond that there are surgical options in reserve.

hopefully the effect of the eye drop travatan will lower your eye pressure. it wont cure your condition but hopefully controll it. if that drop doesnt there are other types of drops to lower the pressure. if not a laser or surgery can. it sounds like glaucoma is the condition. how high was you pressure?

Be sure to keep your appointments with the eye doctor and take your medicine as prescribed. If you have had an eye injury (car accident, punched in the eye, etc.), tell your eye doctor. Moorfield has a great reputation, but you have to do your part in cooperating with the treatment.
