Nope, no overdue loans or child support.
They basically have no clue and they tell me to call again some other time. They said they sent me a letter informing me of another delay( this was about 2 months ago) but I never got it.

The only reason I know that they won’t tell you is if your return was referred to criminal investigation.

Call toll free back and ask them for a transcript called Record of Account. This kind of transcript will list every line on you tax return, and if IRS changed it how it was changed, and will list the transactions on your account; i.e. tax, withholding, refund, penalties and interest.

You could also try your closest walk in office for face to face contact if you still feel you are getting the run around call the taxpayer advocates office.

What does irs.gov "where's my refund" say? That's an awfully long time - are you sure it wasn't taken for something like overdue student loans, child support or taxes? What do you mean when you say they give you the runaround - they should be able to tell you what the problem is. If they are questioning something on your return, you should have received a notice by now asking for information.

How old are you? What business are you in? Have you changed addresses/name (there is mail you may not be getting)? Do you live in an apartment building? Did you paper file yourself, or had someone like turbotax/hrblock/etc do it for you?

I suggest you answer these for other answerers and myself to better answer your question...
