I used the disposables when I was on vacation and the quality was VERY poor. Under the water, the light is already much lower than above the surface so that's strike one. To compensate, I believe the ISO of the film was high, like 400 or 800, so strike two. If you're looking for superb photos, you'll need a good camera, an underwater housing, and a very strong flash. If it's a once in a lifetime event, it is worth renting the equipment, or buying then reselling when you're done.

If this is not something you do often I would just get the disposables or look at renting an underwater digital. Some places even sell special boxes you can put your regular camera in for pics.

I personally would just buy disposable ones, but I'm cheap like that! If you're planning on using a nice underwater digital camera more than just on your trip then go for it.

u should buy the digital water camera, because if u buy a disposable u would have to throw it away, but if u bought the digital camera u cant throw it away. if u go on another trip u wont have to buy another disposable.

It all depends on you. The digital ones are extremely pricey, but you'll get National Geographic-worty pics. The disposable ones are great for if you just want to take fun pics.

You could check ikelite.com and sea-sea.com and see if they have a housing for your camera. They probably have "How-To" books about underwater photography also.

Rent one. Most diving locations have shops that cater to divers.
