Why am I so afraid of not being able to move?

My brothers and I wrestle a lot, and sometimes, Damon (younger than me but more manly and taller) will pin me to the ground with his body, and I won't be able to move and start completely panicking.

Sometimes I'll have realistic dreams that I can't move. I'll "wake up" in the dream, be in bed, and I won't be able to move. At all. And I won't be able to talk either. Those dreams really frighten me...

What could be a reason I'm so afraid of this? Thank you so much for your help, I'd like to get over it. :]

Well, I don't know if you'll get over it. Being trapped and not being able to move is a real fear. Forgive me, but let me tell you a story. I knew a man who was sitting in a bar having a drink watching television. The news was on and the story showed people being taken from the battlefield in Korea. He saw a person with his legs blown off. He said, "Gee, I think I would rather be dead then have my legs blown off."
That night leaving the bar a car him him and lost both his legs. He continued to live. I have only known a few people who laughed as much and enjoyed life as much as he did. He was also quite generous, particularly to me. His wife used to take my mother out while her friend stayed with me (I was disabled at the time). He never regretted living even without his legs. He went on to make something of his life that many remember.
My point is some things test our will to survive. You should try to survive and not give up, even when you are pinned down, look for a way to go forward. Don't panic and waste time worrying about your situation. Think what you need to do to survive despite your fears.

It could be a weak form of claustorphobia (or however you spell it) its actually very common not to be able to move or talk in dreams.

It also could be from a past experience, i was dunked underwater and couldnt breathe once and it freaked me out. If someone starts to push on me in the water i get really nervous. Could be the same type of thing for you.

maybe because when you cant move you are unprotected...vaunerable (christ i can't spell. i hope you understood that word) i'm afraid of something happening while i'm alseep or something happening tht i cant prevent. i hate feeling helpless. should have seen me a few days ago. i was at my friendboys band practice and i help set up equipment most times but this time we were setting up for an after football game party and we needed to set up a bigger stage and move the drums and amps and speakers. he acted like i was too weak to move anything and i almost killed him....then i almot gave myself a hernia....not that i told him that.... i ramble too much..

but anyway. that might be the reason.

Sometimes I get sleep paralysis and it absolutely terrifies me that I'm unable to move or speak. I think it's a natural fear. We all have different kinds of fears.
