I have a program that uses 3D graphics. I have DirectX v10 installed. I haven't been able to get the program to open yet and the tech support people said that it might be because I have v10 instead of v9 which the program was created for. I thought, easy fix. Wrong. When I try to install v9 it quits part way through when it discovers I have a newer version. How do I get around this??

Thanks

OK, I tried the majorgeeks link and the program didn't do anything. I can't install the v9 until I get rid of the v10. Now what??

Unisntall DirectX using DirectX Happy Uninstall from

(can also be found doing a quick Google search)

Then try reinstalling DX9

Hi there - had same problem with AOE II Conquerors on new Win 8 computer. On first installation yesterday afternoon it worked fine. Last night the computer did 133 updates. This morning AOE did not work after having tried all of the forums advice. I just uninstalled and reinstalled AOE II and Conquerors and it seems to be working fine! I suspect it was a Direct X issue
