Your nightmares reflect your fears of life, your negative thinking. Now I'm not one of those who say 'only think good things and nothing bad will happen', but in your case you simply worry too much. (Giving my best Yoda impression) "I sense there is much fear in you."

Something needs to change with your general picture of life, and when it does your dreams will change. Another thing to borrow from pop culture, but may be an easy and useful tool to you, comes from the cute quip, "Try to catch people being good." When hubby does something good and responsible, pause for a moment and seal that scene in your mind. Laugh at some of the things that you are afraid of, look up and down the street and say, "Nope, no steamrollers to run over my kids that I can see." When you go to bed tonight, look at the locked or latched doors and windows and give him a good hug before you go to sleep and think something like "If he catches the burglar this time, it will be someone else' brains, and I'm not touching them." If you pointedly look at that which makes you fearful, and directly and lightheartedly see how you really don't have to fear it, then maybe you will move on to more pleasant things when you dream. Give it a try.

Dreams are a product of your mind trying to make sense of your world. Your insecurities will manifest themselves in dreams, these will be mixed up with the day's events, so seldom make sense.
