You are very mildly nearsighted. Overall, your vision is good, and you can drive without glasses.

You would notice the sharper vision from glasses, but, in my experience, you'd rarely wear your glasses if you got them. *Maybe* for driving at night or in the rain (particularly obnoxious, because the raindrops on the windshield are clearer than what you're trying to look at off in the distance).

If you choose to get glasses, you definitely don't need the more expensive, thinner lenses. Antireflective/UV coatings/tints are a personal preference, and really not necessary for a first pair with as little as I think you'd wear them.

I would recommend getting a pair of prescription sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses is important to protect your eyes from UV. And, since you're wearing the glasses anyway, they might as well be the proper prescription. Most people couldn't tell the difference between your prescription sunglasses from a nonprescription pair.

If I had that prescription I wouldn't be wearing glasses at all! The only time you would need them I suppose is driving at night...

Ive had a few optometrists tell me that when you have your glasses on full time it forces your eyes to strain (mostly during close up work) so they have to focus through the lenses, its hard on them so to make it easier the eye elongates and your perscription gets worse, then the cycle starts anew with a stronger prescription

I'm not an optometrist but this is what ive been told!

Also my friend had the same perscription as you and wore glasses for a year or two then went on a trip to the Italian countryside without his glasses. He came back to months later to find his glasses didn't fit right, went to get his eyes checked and turns out his vision was 20/20... looks like your eyes just need to relax for few months and your vision improves :)

You don't NEED glasses at all, with that Rx
There may be times when you'd find them useful, and prefer the sharper distance vision.
(watching live sports, driving...)
But if your eyes are otherwise normal, you should be inside the legal minium for driving (Me, I want all the eyesight for driving I can get my hands on...) and there are no health considerations one way or the other.

Completely free choice on glasses, with that Rx.

You would need exactly that prescription in your lenses.
