I don't have a family doctor, none of that stuff or maybe I do because on my medicaid thingy card I have a practician, but I have not idea how this stuff works. I never go to the doctors and those things. I want to go to a dermatologist in New york city to get my beauty mark removed with laser. How does the process work? Do i really need a referal thing? I dont want to go to my doctor if i have one just to ask for referal. How do i contact my doctor? Im only 17.

Thanks in advanced.

oh yeah I only have like $200. Will i have to get like 5 visits and like $100 each visit or is it $100 one visit im done? Thanks. It's a small beauty mark on my face btw.

Hey what do I say when i DO call my PCP? Say I saw your name on my medicaid card? Wow, I thought those removal things were only like 100 bucks. hmm what about those spa places where they help u do that but not a dermatologist..those beauty places?

Look at your insurance card - is there a name next to the term "PCP"? If there is, you NEED to make an appointment to see that doctor BEFORE you even consider going to a derm. (Their phone number should also be on the card.) Most specialists want you to have a referral in hand before you get to their waiting room.

$200? Yeah, that will cover the first visit when the doctor comes in the door, looks at your beauty mark and says, "schedule an appointment for your first treatment." Laser removals can cost in the thousands.

Chances are that your insurance provider will not cover this. It's cosmetic.
