The polygraph is all 'yes' or 'no' answers. Here is how it works:
They give you a comprehensive questionnaire package prior to the test. A polygraph examiner with go over it and do a very intense pre-test interview with you. You MUST reveal all or else you are going to have problems.
The questions will be like "Other than what we have discussed, have you ever done any other narcotics"? or "Other than what we have discussed, have you ever stolen anything?" and such.
The big thing is this.... They are looking for honesty. If you show to be deceptive or if things come out after the examine has started...you will be immediately disqualified.
Before you even get to the polygraph phase, they are going to do a very comprehensive back ground check on you. If you have a troubled past, it will all come out. They will find your juvenile record as even if closed to the public it will be open to the police.
They will also interview your friends, family and even teachers.

by you asking this question makes me think you have something to hide......sorry brother, we all had to go through it, and trust me, most of us did something at one time or another that was embarrassing to talk about. I had the unfortunate experience of taking my polygraph with an ex-Department of Defense guy.....HE GRILLED ME for 2 HOURS......very stressful....and I didn't have anything to hide....I can only imagine what the guys who are trying to lie feel like.........

Have you ever, even accidentally, had sex with an animal?
I'm not sure how one would do that accidentally, but it was a no regardless.
