I don't think they can, if you don't know how to love yourself, how can you possibly put yourself in another's place, to learn how to love them?

Good question, the secret is to completely accept and trust in Gods love for you and then you can love yourself because of this, then you can really learn to love others.

loving ones self is the very definition of pride and arrogance or will sooner or later turn into it. Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall . Forget the concept of self love and instead strive for a good and healthy dose of SELF RESPECT.

to them loving others would make them feel good since what they see about themselves is ugly.

It depends, if you love who you are then others should love who you are too, but if you love yourself then it would be harder to love anything else.

what do you mean by love themselves...if they put others above themselves thats being selfless and loving others...

I do not think they can. If we cannot accept and love ourselves as human beings, we will apply the same lack of acceptance to others; thus the cruelty of the fundies.

If you don't, at least, like yourself, you will find nothing to like in others.
You will always be jealous of others because you will think they are better or more important than you.

I fail to see the problem. Why should thinking that you yourself are not very nice be any impediment to thinking that other people are?
Frankly, I reckon loving yourself is vastly overrated. Stay away from such people.
