Know what? That is a very good question really.
Christians should all have a healthy outlook about themselves, but many don't,. And you'de think they would.
But the lack of love is sometimes due to the horrible pasts some of us carry around.
It takes time to heal from that kind of thing.

Good question, many reasons. One good one is because they haven't yet learned to live his laws and do good to themselves and their fellow men. When you do, you will feel his love and that is the most transforming love there is and no mortal can ever give enough of it to you to fill the empty or lonely spaces of the soul.

The load of the past is tooooooooooooo heavy to bear, knowing and beleiving someone has carried it brings comfort. Also its easier loving someone else than loving oneself for what one sees in the mirror is too ugly to accept. So to beleive that Jesus loves you is easier as compared to loving yourself.

Because they don't trust & obey God. Obviously Jesus confirms His love for us in His Word. And when we doubt Jesus love for us, then we grieve the Holy Spirit. Because without faith it is impossible to please God, for those who come to Him must believe God Is, & is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him.

When I have been persecuted for my faith, sometimes I believed the comments. And then I think, "Who cares about me..." So? Then this grieves the Holy Spirit who has sealed me unto the day of redemtion. Because. God cares about me. It doesn't matter what so & so said. What matters is that God knows my honest heart.

Christians may not love themself, because they don't know who they are in Christ.

Because they are aware of the fact that the love of Christ is not the same kind of love we experience on the physical level.

Hi NewDude,

Because the world wounds us when we are children, and inside of ourselves, we remain children our entire lives - just the outside shell changes.

But the gift of grace is such that we CAN be healed of these wounds and live renewed in Christ and learn to love ourselves, forgive those who harmed us, and then begin to love others.

It's a process, that has a continuum that overlaps during our life.
