It's what one calls a paradox. A very interesting paradox.

Ummm...... it is a church lie that the Jews had anything to do with that. The Jews were ruled over and persecuted by the Romans at that time and had NO power or say in anything that happened.
There were at that time hundreds of Jews being crucified by the Romans, it was a very common practice by them during their cruel reign over the Jews.
Furthermore, it is a complete fiction that there was ever any tradition in which a couple of prisoners were trotted out in front of the Jewish people who then chose who would be let go and who would die. This has NEVER existed, there are no records of any kind of tradition like this, anywhere.
So then we have to look at why the writers of the New Testament invented this. Why would they do that? What does it make the Jews look like? Exactly. It demonizes the Jews, and that is the intent throughout much of the New Testament, there are many instances of lies that do this.
For instance the thing about the Pharisees is completely incorrect. It was the Saducees who were corrupted and in the pockets of the Romans, not the Pharisees. The Saducees were wealthy and did the Roman's bidding willingly. The Pharisees were NOT corrupted and were the "everyday man's" representatives. They were fair, righteous, and compassionate, and helped the common man and woman politically and religiously.
So why did the writers of the New Testament demonize these people? Why does the New Testament lie about the Pharisees like that? Again, to demonize the Jews. To turn what is right and good about Jews upside down into evil, so that the church's followers will not think that there is even one thing good about the Jews. Legalistic and blind, and lost, is how the church wanted its followers to think of the Jews when nothing could be further from the truth.
But this is common practice when one religion moves in to take over from another. Demonize the previous religion to the new followers in order to retain power and control.
And while we are on the topic, human sacrifice has NEVER existed in Judaism. That was the lesson (in Judaism) of Abraham and Isaac in the incident where Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, that human sacrifice is NOT acceptable and is an abomination to God. Sarah died as a result of that incident, of horror at even hearing where Abraham and Isaac had gone and what they were going to do.
Blood sacrifices were done for UNINTENTIONAL sins only. The rest of the offerings were grain offerings, etc. Atonement was done by these means AS WELL AS BY PRAYER.
In Hosea, after the destruction of the Temple, the Jews are crying, asking God how they will achieve forgiveness and atonement for their sins now that there is no more Temple in which to bring the offerings and perform the sacrifices. God replies and tells them that from that point on, "the PRAYERS of your lips shall serve as the bulls of sacrifice."
That is when animal sacrifice was ended forever. Prayer took it's place, totally and completely. This was LONG before Jesus. A messiah who serves as a human/god sacrifice for sin has NEVER existed in Judaism. This is NOT the role of the Messiah in Judaism, and it never has been. Human sacrifice is an ancient pagan ritual, found among the Baal worshippers, ancient Mayans, etc. but never, ever had a place in Judaism.
The Jewish high priest was NOT the only one who had to arrange the animal sacrifices. There were hundreds of priests who were trained to do this, and they rotated duty between them. Again, this NEVER included human sacrifice, nor was this ever to be translated INTO performing a human sacrifice.
Also, even if human sacrifice WERE allowed, Jesus would not have qualified, since he was not unblemished. Animals could not even have a SPOT of a blemish on them, or they were disqualified.
Please go and learn the paths that God gave for Gentiles to be righteous.

And please also go and learn about the conditions for the REAL Messiah, and these do not involve ancient paganistic concepts like a messiah who is born of a god and a virgin, is a man/god to be worshipped, or is sacrificed for sin like an animal.
Did you know that the sacrifices and offerings were done for ALL the nations, not just the Jews?

I don't think that Jewish people are bad people and may I be a sample of the population. But what I do think is that people that don't understand something may dislike it or them in the case of your question. The people in Jesus' time had to do what they did because everything was already orchestrated by the hand of God. It was in His plan. People that dislike the Jewish people for this reason just don't understand that Jesus was fulfilling the law and thankfully for those that believe He succeeded.
I am a black woman and it would be crazy of me to hate white people because of what happened during slavery. If someone personally wronged me, regardless of their skin color, I would be a little upset but only those that are less knowledgeable would apply that hatred across a whole race of people.
From reading the bible, I could not understand why after the Israelites would keep turning their backs on God that He would spare them and love them. He had compassion. And that is the same thing that we have to have today is compassion.
That was suppose to be like an example. I hope you got the point of what I was trying to say. I do get a little side tracked sometimes (lol).

Not all the Jewish people in the Gospels played a part in the crucifixion. Jesus and many of the apostles were Jewish. *shrug*
For the people who seem to think you are referring to modern day prejudices, well, none of the Christians I know are prejudiced against Jews. It is quite common also to see bumper stickers in this part of the country which say 'my boss is a Jewish carpenter'. There are Jewish people (by ethnicity) in the congregation at my Mom's church, and at my old church.

Can we clarify this?
The only people ever to practise crucifixion were the ROMANS.
Jews did not.
The Romans were in total control and they hated the Jews; they also rather disliked Jesus, who they regarded as an agitator.
The Romans killed Jesus. The Jews did not.
And for those people who claim the Jews asked the Romans to murder Jesus - get real.
The Jews were not in a position to ask the Romans to do anything!
That said, you are totally right in that one very real reason for anti semitism is the way Christianity has always taught that the Jews killed Christ.
It's important to remember that Christian accounts of the death of Jesus were written after the fact.

Good God. We've been pitchin' this for 2,000 years. WE DID NOT MURDER JESUS. We dont drink your children's blood, we don't own the media or steal your cash, etc. I know you probably still teach this stuff to your congregations in your churches, but we had nothing to do with Jesus. We don't and never did, care about Jesus, either in a bad way or a good way. He wasn't anything special to Judaism, either in a positive light or negative one. You say your gospels tell you that we kill Jesus? Yea right. Trust those early Christian scriptures, but don't forget, at the time when Jesus was crucified by Rome, Judaism was already a 2,000 year old established religion.

Real Christians have nothing against Jews. Jesus was a Jew. The whole controversy is because some people who didn't like Jews to begin with decided to pick this as an excuse for their ignorance.

So you are alive. That's good. So hard to find a question from you. Ah well, I know you had to go private due to troubles. Hope you had a great summer. Peace.
Um, I don't think about living people holding any responsibility for the distant past.

A better question is this.
Why do some people blame the Jews for brutally killing the being that Created them? I mean after all, they knew who He was, they knew they were His chosen people and they knew He had done no wrong. And besides, they won't admit that they're ancestors did anything wrong. Why blame them? I don't know, maybe because they were the first people to betray Gods Love and they cover it up by claiming that He never came.

Some people are simply incapable of accepting responsibility for their own actions. So they blame it on someone -- ANYONE -- else.
The Jews are simply an easy target, hated by Satan and all of his followers.
