Is there anything wrong with being rich by working hard and liking nice things?
it is about your heart and if those good qualities & diligance become idols to you.
there are many warnings about this and even more scriptures. but this is a good one in a nut shell and a start to build on.
Mark 10
Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler
17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”
18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”[c]
20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.”
21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”
22 But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

So many examples of a parent calling to say they will miss the ball game or ballet due to work. Then the spouse trying to explain to the child blah, blah, blah. The child would rather have both parents and whole family there than have yet another TV or larger pool than the neighbors. Kids really do not play "keeping up with the Jones", unless the parents do. The parents lead by example.
Putting work in front of family and GOD is what happens to make this wrong.

Being rich doesn't insure happiness.
Being rich doesn't mean the person is "better" then less rich or poor.
Being rich is not always gotten by hard work and good morals.
Money isn't the root of evil. The bible says the love of money is the root of evil.
Families need to spend time together and help each other also.
Christians need to help others.

Just like parents want to give their kids nice things, God wants us to prosper. As some said, just don't let it come before God and family. Others think it's impossible for a rich man to go to heaven. But the scriptures clearly say it's easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than a rich man to get to heaven. But not impossible. The eye of a needle is referring to a needle gate at the side of a fenced city, which was used after dark when the main entrance was shut. It was much smaller, and it was hard to get your camel to "crawl' thru it. Hard, yes. But not impossible. And remember, thru Christ all things are possible.

Nothing is wrong with it as long as he is honest and still is good to people along the way. It is not having money that is the problem; it is the love of money being exclusive to other things that is wrong with wealth. But not all wealthy people are that way. Some are very generous and kind people.

you should probably give away alot of your expendable income. unless you value your happiness derived from brand names and other luxuries, more than the happiness of dying children
it is a necessity of capitalism for their to be winners and losers, even if we accept this is the best system we can come up with, we can still do many things to make the extremes not so large. if we decide that human life is important
we are all cogs in the machine, but we do have personal choices that can directly effect others in a positve way

this life is short and is he providing spiritual things. I remember a story about a man who spent all his time at work.
When he got cancer and had to be with his family he said he hardly knew them.
NO amount of money we make makes up for a failure to communicate with our loved ones.
What are most of our priorities.

There isn't anything wrong.
Provided you don't harm anyone for making money.
When you spend money on nice things, you generate work and wealth for other people.

it is perfectly alright if you remember to share with people who are less fortunate and give thanks to God as he has given this wealth to you perhaps for the very reason to share with the less fortunate. The problem with having the money is not actually having the money but putting the money above God and thinking the money makes the difference in one's self worth and their worth to God.

We don't own possessions - possessions own us.
Hbr 13:5 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
