Jesus said was saying that people should not make material things so important. This is a temporary life and when you leave, you cannot the material things with you. He said not to worry about "Stuff" , things that will, just rot and rust. He said to build up your treasures in heaven. To do that he meant that by Loving God and Loving other people as you would Love yourself, that is building up treasure with God. Heaven is eternal and that is your real home. The things that you do good build treasures there that do not rust or fall apart. The gold is the spiritual uplifting and elevation of energy that your spirit obtains by goodness. You are the light of the world he said. So if you do good your light becomes bright and if you don't it will dim. The same when you get to heaven. The brightness of your light that you have accumulated will take you to the same place of light brightness. Like attracts like.
Hope this helps you to see.

Can't add anything better than tomcat that was great but I was thinking if money is what you are about what happens if you lose your money? Those fancy beach houses in Mississippi came down just like those shacks in New Orleans. they both have nothing now. That is how fast our material treasures can be gone.
Look at the homes and lives lost in the flooding in Oklahoma and other states this year. California fires destroy more than homes but a lot of people lives.

i studied that today, and Jesus said it is pointless to go after material things and leave God behind because at any given moment your life can come to an end. the man in this story thought to himself, that after he built this bigger storehouse he could relax and be rich for the rest of his life and he could just enjoy all the material things he was going to have, but in order to enjoy them he need life, and who's to say that he would have that? now theres nothing wrong with wanting to invest in having a bigger storehouse, its just he did it without taking God in consideration and he made it the center of his life, becasue in a way he was doing wat the bible said in sense that he was working and providing for his family. We can want material things, we can have nice things, just as long as we remember to put God before all. The most important thing is to have a good relationship with God for he is the only one who can give us life and allow us to enjoy everything in it.
