There is a correlation between the amount of carbon dioxide and methane gas (others that are less an issue) in the atmosphere and increase global temperatures. That means that as these gases increased their presence in the atmosphere, temperatures have increased. It doesn't really say why.
Some say this proves both global warming and that it is effected by human activity.
The increased heat will melt ice caps and cause sea levels to rise. This will wipe out many low lying areas like islands and coastal areas. Some say the heat will also increase desertification and make it increasing difficult to grow food and any sort of plants.
There are other theories that point to water vapor in the atmosphere as either a cause or offset to global warming.
In short there is reason to worry about increasing CO2 and methane levels, but why and how we deal with it is still open for debate.
In short there are lots of competing theories. Temperatures are rising, the effect is mainly what is debated.

Do you ever watch the Discovery or Hystory channels? They have such great information from both points of view on this subject.
If we don't try to slow down global warming, eventually the polar ice caps will melt, Greenland's ice will melt causing a dramatic rise in the ocean levels, glaciers will melt into lakes, and flood valleys in the rocky mountains. The rocky mountains, without snow pack in the winter time, will completely change, as with the valleys below them. There will be a lot of land that ends up underwater because of this, and there will be other area's that will probably dry out and become desserts, that were once beautiful green grasslands. Many people will die, and many animals will become extinct.
Do a search on Global warming, and you will get lots, and lots of websites that can give you tons of information.

Hi! Great that you also have a project about Global Warming. Why you don´t join mine? I think, only together with many people we can reach something. I read many answers in yahoo answers and I think that many people still don´t accept Global Warming. But it´s true and scientists can´t be wrong with all their methods and instruments of investigations. Even if there are circles or ice ages, but mankind is destroying our planet too. Since our industries are growing, everything is different. In the past with dinosaurs and a few human beings off course they could not destroy so much than we do now. But now we are making this "circles" faster and we need to change our way of life because in less than 100 years life could come to its end. Check out my videos and websites!

global warming is a fenomena where the temperature of the earth rise. this happens when gaseous like CO2 or CO is realeased into the atmosphere. when this gaseous gather in the atmosphere they will trap heat from the sun and act like a big green house.if this continues then ice from the north &south pole will melt causing a big flood. if we- the citizens of earth-are lucky, places like greenland and iceland will become warm. therefor we need to realise this problem and faster find a effective sollution.(i hope i've helped you)

It is because of our Ozone, if we could clean our Ozone, we might have hope andd it is because the sun, a star, is blowing up, although it will blow up in like 3 million years later.
I f we don't stop it then major flooding, we will burn up, and alot more will happen.
