is it true or not?

True. INDOOR cats often live into their
late teens & early 20's. Indoor cats just
aren't exposed to wild animals like raccoons
so they don't get into serious fights which
can harm them. Also, not being exposed to cats
running wild just means there less likely to
contract illness from sick cats.

I lost Sylvester to cancer at 20, my Siamese to renal failure at 19 and my Amber at age 18. Currently I've got a 16 year old cat, a 10, 11 and 12 year old one, all of which are going strong.

My vet sees a lot of 20-22 year old cats at her practice. The record at this point for the USA is a 36 year old cat, but that's the rare exception obviously.

it is true, as long as the cat has been taken very good care of, and the chances are probably higher if it is an indoor cat who has been fixed. we have had a cat live to be 18, but the five middle-aged cats we own now, we're hoping to get them to 20!

Like any other creature it's lifetime depends upon the care it receives. Cat Fancy has documented a cat living 24 year (this was about 12 years ago). According to this site (http://www.cat-world.com.au/CatRecords.htm) one cat lived up to the age of 38.

Most cats won't live that long, but it is possible.

Yes.

My cat Fluffy lived to be 24. She was a long haired Calico.

Her kitten "Baby" lived to be 21 until something in the woods got her a month ago :(

I did meet one once...but the poor thing had to go to the vet all the time for fluids. It's not impossible. I hope both of mine do!
