I really need to figure it out because i'm sick of having my friends ask me why i never replied to their texts...and then they realize that i CANT text. please help!!

I have verision. My boyfriend recently added me to his plan becuase I had a different provider and when we would talk - it cost too much $$$. Now we talk AND text for free.
It cost him 5 dollars a month to pay for me to get 200 texts per month...plus if i text to somebody else who hwas verison its free.
Maybe you can ask your parents if your cell phone provider has an option like this.
If you're willing to pay the five dollars a month, maybe that would help convince them a little more. Make sure though that you dont go over your allowed # of text's because then I think it costs a lot. (And i'm sure neither you or your parents want to be stuck paying for that).
If you're too young to work at a job, offer to do things around the house for money that you can use to put towards your 5 dollars per month. Fall time is comming where I live - raking leaves is a great way to earn some cash. Doing dishes, vacuuming, folding laundry.
Good luck! My old cell didnt allow me to get texts either. People would text me and say "I sent you a text, you never replied!" and im like "well thats because I cant get them!!" (A lot of times nobody believed me, because when they would send me a text it would say 'sent' ..but i never got it)... I never tought that i'd text a lot, but now that i have texting, i love it - its a great way to communicate.
(luckily most of the people I know also have verison - so my texts are usually free)

Tell them texting is in now. You get unlimited texting on your phone and you're good to go. I had unlimited texting and I had 1000 minutes on my plan. Whenever I got my phone bill, I always used less than 100 minutes because I'm a texter. I had to talk some since into my mom, now she's almost 50 and all she does is text me! Saves money...

Texting costs 5 cents a word more or less. Offer to pay for it.
