Satan is our accuser and he will do anything to make Christians useless for God's kingdom. The doubts you are having about your salvation are from the devil. You must use the Bible, as did our Lord, to defeat him. Look up the promises of God in the Bible, especially those pertaining to salvation, then utter them aloud the next time Satan attacks you in this way. The next time the devil reminds you about your past, remind him of his future. I would personally recommend 1 John and the Gospel of John, as there are numerous verses which clearly state that we may know we have salvation and are thus going to heaven.
"For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance" -Romans 11:29
PS: bandycat; do not be so deceitful. The Bible states no such things. In fact, the Bible states that the earth is round and suspended on nothing. These things were written hundreds of years before science discovered they were true. I defy you to produce even 1 verse of scripture which states such trash

Listen if you know in your heart that you ARE saved then you are ok.
If you ARE feeling a conviction that means the holy spirit IS still inside you and that you will go to heaven.
Despite all the verses they can show you to make you believe otherwise do not fret. They are taking them out of context and are simply trying to scare you.
The fact is Salvation is a FREE gift from God. Some people would have you believe you have to perform sertain acts in order to remain being saved. This is ansolutely crazy and quite arrogant. How someone could think Christ dying for them is not enough to ensure their salvation with out them having to perform some act on their own is beyond me. In short nothing you do can compare with God AT ALL, no matter how good of an act you think you are doing it serves no sway in whether or not you get into heaven.
There are two sins that will send someone to hell. The first is obviously not believing in God, and the fact that Jesus came to save you.
The second is Blasphamy of the Holy Spirit. Now, if you do that after you have been saved I do believe you can lose your salvation there. Explaining Blashpamy of the Holy Spirit would take all day. I encourage you to follow this link as it will answer ALOT of questions about it. And it is is ALL backed up with pure scripture.
That link is on the possbilities of losing salvation

And this one is on Blasphamy of the Holy Spirit.

You must remain stedfast. According to Revelation 12:10 Satan knows that he hath but a short time and has great wrath. He accused the brethren day and night before God, and has now come to steal, kill and destroy the children of God. Satan is a thief, and a liar. He wants to steal your joy and make you lose your salvation. Ephesians 6:6 tells you to take the shield of faith to be able to withstand the darts of the wicked. Now is the time to be in the bible like never before, read it, make it a daily ritual, until you have it written on the table of your heart. (Proverb 3:3). There is a parable about seed and stony ground, read it, it will give you an understanding of what is happening to you and why. (Mark 4:3-20)

If you have accepted Jesus as your saviour, the only one who can take away your sin and make you righteous before God and are trusting in Him, then do not fear, remember we have an adversary who 'tempts us to despair' - a hymn I think.
I suggest you prayerfully read the bible particularly the 'salvation verses' (if you like) and ask God to reveal to you His truth, I am sure if you do this sincerely and don't rush it then God will reveal to you the truth about your own misgivings which I am confident are unfounded.
Mature christians can have many doubts from time to time, but we recognise that such thoughts are an attack and not from God, they come quickly and can go just as quickly if we 'resist the Devil' and hold fast to the truth.
Keep praying, keep reading the bible, continue to attend church regularly, talk to your minister at church and you will be fine.
I believe a good understanding of God's Grace means that we can have a confident assurance of our own salvation, that's not a license to sin but it's a security for us that if God loved us enough to die for us and call us and chose us (chosen before the foundation of the world) then he won't just let go of us, you would have to work pretty hard to lose your salvation i.e very hard and even then I believe God would try and call you back..
God Bless Dan

Conviction about what? Now, satan will send condemnation, but throught Chrisy we have passed out of condemnation (Romans 8:1-2) (see John 3:16-21)
Conviction however is the work of the holy ghpst where the person is able to see himself as God sees him; guilty, defiled, and totally unable to save himself. (John 16:8)
A. He will remember our sins no more. Hebrews 8:12
B. He removes our sins Psalm 103:12
C. He purged our sins II Peter 1:19
D. Our sins washed by His blood Revelation 1:5
E. He forgives our sins Matthew 9:6
Go and sin no more, all have sinned and come short of his glory (Romans 3:23), but it does not mean that you are not saved... you just need to pray, fast, and read the Bible more..seek God!
Don't let small stuff get you down!
Satan, came to me as well as many others I know when thry got saved..but you have to remember that salvation is not a feeling..one day you may feel up and the next not so hot, but that doesn't mean that you have lost What God has Given to you!!!

God Bless You!
Did you know, that contrary to many things you hear, many Christians go through what you have described? Paul told us to "work-out our salvation with fear and trembling." (I might be a little bit off on the quote, but not the meaning)
If you went to a Christian book store, you could find book after book about it . . . Your Pastor could recommend testimonial books . . .
How about this . . . Jesus met John the Baptist . . . John said , "look, the lamb of God" . . . then much later when in prison . . . he sent a messenger asking Jesus if He was the one . . . Jesus sent the messenger back . . . the message was the quote from Isaiah: "the hungry are fed, the lame are healed, etc."---------- even John The Baptist!
Growing in Christ is like growing in life . . . there are good and bad days . . . sometimes you are stronger than other times. Study your Bible, stay humble, and draw near to God.

First of all, congrats on your salvation and more importantly, stick with it.
What you need to understand, is that now that you are a true Saved Christian, the Devil has more reason than ever to convict you because of it. He knows that early in your walk you are most vulnerable to falling out and back into the world. I encourage you to stay strong and keep studying God's word and spending time in fellowship with other Christians. As your faith grows, so will your ability to cast down convictions and stay strong in your belief and faith. God Bless you and don't back down, no matter how difficult things may get. He is a good and powerful God who will take care of all your needs if you let him.

If God has an enemy (and the bible says he does), wouldn't it make perfect sense for that enemy to whisper doubts in your ear to make you turn away from your belief in God? Isn't that what countries do when the spread propaganda designed to shake the conviction of their enemies?
In my experience, when a person first becomes a Christian, he or she is "fired up" with a desire to serve God and to spread the "good news" to others. That makes you dangerous in the eyes of God's enemy. At the same time, you haven't "put on the whole armor of God" yet...this makes you vulnerable to attacks.
My advice is to take those feelings to God when they surface and ask him to show you why you're being attacked. Focus your attention on learning the scripture and following God's instructions for your life...the more you do this, the stronger you will become. Seek God before everything else in your life and he will show you what (if anything) is standing between you and him.

Do you mean convicted or convinced? I think you are having difficulties because there is a disconnect between reality and Christian dogma.
The Bible says the earth is flat, held up by stone pillars, covered by a crystalline dome (the firmament). The moon, sun and stars produce their own light and are attached to the underside of this dome. God sits on the other side of the dome on a throne in heaven.
Does this match with reality? I think this is why you are having difficulties. Because a part of you is saying "This is nuts".
