Did you check with your bank first? You may have to get a secured card to start -- you put up a deposit which is used as collateral for your credit limit. After 6 months of using and paying on time, you can apply for a regular credit card.

You can't get both. If you want to get credit, go to your credit union (if you don't have one join one) and ask for a loan based on your savings. This is the cheapest way to get a loan, as you are basically paying them about 1% over your intrest that you are eanring on the account. This will show up on your report.
In about 3 to six months, after you have been paying, it will show that you have a credit record.

Just buy a prepaid card, and use it for the rest of your life. You really do not want anything to do with credit card companies, as most of them are thieves.

Capital one has credit cards that are designed for people like you who have no or limited credit. Just look for the "limited credit ok" ones.
