We live in a period of religious persecution today. As an open Pagan, I would have my employment challenged in many Public Schools.
Many people don't understand truly what religious persecution is. They tend to believe that disagreement and persecution are one and the same. Christian Fundamentalists often tell their adherents that Christians are persecuted in the United States because of the negative attitude toward religious symbols and other such things. Still, these are the same people who would fight for the expulsion of a Pagan teacher, or who protest Pagan Pride celebrations and such.
I would probably conceal my beliefs if my life were in danger. While a get a lot of flack from Fundamentalists for being as open as I am, I don't hide it here in the United States though.

No, I would not then, nor will I now hide my religious beliefs from anyone. I currently live in a place where it is VERY dangerous to be a pagan (or to have ANY sort of alternative lifestyle for that matter)yet I have alway been very open about my bliefs. I will not say that there have not been problems over it, but I will not live in fear. Period.

I have never been in that position but I would lie if it put my family in danger. my family always comes first but in general I am very open about my beliefs. I would rather be hated for what I am then liked for what I am not.
There are many atheists who say they are christian while traveling because it is dangerous to admit so in certain parts of the world.

No. I couldn't say what I would do if put in a situation where my family was in danger, but for myself, no.
I've had many battles with my dad, who sometimes fears for my safety (because I wear hijab), with him wanting me to remove it when I fly, etc. I fear God more than I fear any human being.
- EDIT -
I'm openly laughing at the person who said he'd move to Israel "where it's safe".
Has our standard of what we consider safe been diminished so?

Christ said if you deny Him on Earth, He will deny you in Heaven. I guess no one can say for certain what they would do given that kind of situation, but I sure hope I would have the courage to announce my Faith to anyone, even if it were dangerous. No I have never lied about it, I'm a Catholic-Christian, and happy to tell the world.

As a non-christian in the United States I guess I'll be finding out the answer to this question pretty soon.

as in here where so many readily admit to not believing and belittle the believers? my faith has been challeged many times but i have never feared to reply that Jesus is my savior. Even tho I don't go to church because too many believe the apostle paul to be of more importance than Jesus and I get verbal about it.

You mean like being an atheist in most of America of course.
I might lie about my lack of belief, many people do.

The only reason we fail to speak Truth is because we have accepted fear in its place.

I hope that I would be brave and not lie, but when push comes to shove....who knows! If somebody was holding a gun to my head.....wow....I hope I never have to be in such a situation.
