may I share with you what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about it, and then hear YOUR answers:

CCC 1 - God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

CCC 2 - So that this call should resound throughout the world, Christ sent forth the apostles he had chosen, commissioning them to proclaim the gospel: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." Strengthened by this mission, the apostles "went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it."

Bible Alone Folks don't like extrbiblical sources quoted (except their own pastors) even when the quote ratifies the teaching of the Bible! Go figure!

The purpose for being is union with God and service of God.

I think we all share common purposes: work and love. I am not talking of worldly materialisc work for financial reasons. Work that comes from our inner selves is the key. We work to show that God so gallantly shines through us in a way that others can truly see and their paths are more clear along life's way. We work at opening our homes and hearts to strangers and loved one's on an unconditional love basis. Love is the greatest of all things. People can give money and do good deeds all day long but if they don't have agape love then it is useless and meaningless. When you work and love and expect nothing in return then are fullfilling the purpose of man's existence. Work humanity into unity. Work also consists of talking and praying for and with one another. work is all the good things that you do in life that affect lives of others without their knowing who did it. It is all those deeds that are done privately and no one know but you and your creator. Being able to listen and learn from a diversity of mankind and accept them (although some may not share your beliefs) for who they are and aren't is our purpose. Everyone and everything has a purpose. Often they just don't care to take the time to see it or seek it out!

We are to regain our relationship with the Creator by obeying what is written in Acts 2:38. This will get rid of our sin nature and then we will receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This is what St. Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost. This is our Redeemers Plan of Salvation and if altered in any way, shape, or form, will not work.

It's a bit long-winded, but I can agree with that.

I like the Baltimore Catechism.
To be happy with God forever.

First of all you need to recognize that the Bible is the only Word of God. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is not scripture and every time you quote it as if it were, you stray.

That being said, I believe the best answer is the simplest. The purpose of our existence (it's an "e", not an "a" by the way) is to have a relationship with our Creator, God.

Q -- "Christians - How would you describe the purpose of our existance?"

A -- I think that the ONLY way a good answer could be given to this question would have been if Revelation hadn't ended several chapters too soon!

If it had told us just what we would be DOING just a mere googleplex (that's 1, with a hundred zeroes after it) years from now -- which still will only be in the first INSTANT of eternity -- **then** I could probably give you SOME sort of a meaningful answer to that.

It's kinda complicated but i know there's someONE out there who cares for me. I still have fears, if don't have any fears then that will be the time i won't believe on such Godly existence.

Cool!
I always liked the definition in the Baltimore Catechism because it was so easy to understand : "God made us to know, love and serve Him in this world, so that we could be happy with Him, forever, in heaven."
Short and sweet and sums it up nicely.
