I have a friend who is bulimic and she just can't seem to stop. I started researching it a lot to try and find out all the negatives of it so I could tell her. But when I said that it really doesn't do anything for but possibly make you gain weight, she ignored me.
What happens to your foods once you eat them and throw them up? Do all the fats and bad stuff already get absorbed in your body once you swallow it? Does anyone know the process? For example, ice cream.

food is only absorbed passed the stomach, in the intestines.
your friend is ill, she needs professional & expert help.
the problem with all that throwing-up is it will damage her teeth enamel & burn her throat.
best to get some medical help.
you can help by supporting her, going with her when she sees the doctors & keep her positive.
talk to a nurse at school tomorrow, guessing that you're a teenager & get the ball rolling getting your friend some help.

Any type of sugar will be processed almost immediately, first.
If the food itself hasn't been swallowed too long ago the vomit will look like chewed food, otherwise the acids in the stomach will begin to digest. Which is why the person leaves the table so quickly after eating. And, yes, the constant vomitting does a number on your teeth and esophagus. The acids can create an ulcer there which may develop into cancer.

I had a friend in high school who was bulimic. It was a major deal I fianlly convinced her to go see and Dr. because she got to the point where she was always getting sick she would throw up immediatly after eating anything to point didn't would even eat because her body wouldn't keep it down even when she wanted it to. What happen is your body develops a rythem to the vomiting the other thing that happens is the acid in your stomach starts to eat away at your esophogus every time you throw up so eventually it ruins your ability to swallow or eat or anything that needs to down your throat. Its very very bad you need to convince your friend to get professional help before it to late.

My sister suffered from Bulimia for a few months. It's so terrible. The stomach acid destroys your whole digestive tract- stomach, esohpagus, teeth, throat, etc. The lack of food also does a great deal of damage. Your body needs nutrition to survive. It's the same as starving yourself, but the person feels as if they have eaten.

You can read more about it here if you'd like: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/bulimia_signs_symptoms_causes_treatment.htm

The nutrients are not absorbed. She will eventually become malnourished and very ill. Bulemia and anorexia have the same end, death. Encourage your friend to seek help for her problem before she does irreversible damage to her body. Telling her not to do it will not help, it may even make her want to do it more. Is her family aware of her problem? If they are not perhaps they should be told.

If she gorges then pukes it back up the fats won't have a chance to get absorbed and add to her weight. So she won't be getting any fats or any vitamins either. She's going to be losing weight and losing things that can keep her healthy and keep her body from sicknesses. She's going to lose weight but she's also going to lose so much else.

I've read an article on a bulimic kid and he ended up tearing his stomach by puking, if he hadn't gotten help when he did, he could've died from internal bleeding. It also gives you bad breath...

Food isn't absorbed that quickly but the acid she throws up will destroy her teeth.
