Do you mean:

Maryborough is a city located on the Mary River in South East Queensland, Australia, approximately 300 kilometres north of the state capital, Brisbane.

The name of the Mary River was chosen, 1847 (prior to Queensland becoming a separate colony) by Charles Augustus FitzRoy, then Governor of New South Wales. Mary River — after his wife Lady Mary Lennox.

As far as I know we don't have a Maryland in Queensland.

There's a Queenstown in Maryland. Australia has a Queenstown in the State of Tasmania. New Zealand also has a Queenstown as do Singapore and South Africa. Australia also has a Queensland.

The Maryland Queenstown was probably named after Elizabeth I as was Virginia. The other Queenstowns are most likley to have been named after Queen Victoria although Queen Charlotte, the wife of George III is a possibility. Caroline, the Queen of George IV is unlikely but Adelaide, the Queen of William IV could account for the Australian names. The capital city of South Australia was namd after her.
