According to NPR public radio, your body can only absorb about 250 mg per day. Anything more than that is wasted, since you just pee it out.

Some vitamins, like Vitamin A, are poisonous in large amounts (Beta-Carotene does the same thing as vitamin A, and is safer).

There is some debate as to whether large amounts of vitamin C is helpful, harmful, or just useless. Some doctors wonder if large amounts can hurt your kidneys, but there is no evidence of this the last time I read about it.

Too much vitamin C could cause kidney stones.

Up to 1 gm a day is quite OK or even up to 3 gm a day.

In general you don't even need 1 gm a day and 500 mg a day would be more than enough.

More than 3 gm a day is probably overdoing it and is not recommended.

our body takes in only what is required the rest is excreted out so don't worry.
