Almost a third of XBOX 360 are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only 0.3%.
Let's compare them
PS3 has 8 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 50 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular DVD (4.7 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 130 $
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of doom" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is a uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 we'll get more than 300 games.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

i would get the ps3 for MANY MANY reasons
i'll list some of the reasons
- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player
- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(HD DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 25gb)
- online is free for ps3 not like 360
- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring
- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it
- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have
- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p
- built in Wi-Fi
- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: 3% hardware failure
those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this
Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)
Prices for the holidays(rumors)
ps3- 80gb: $499
40gb: $399
didnt hear anything about 360 but it probably will stay at $399

Sony have said they aim to have a 10 year lifespan for the PS3. It's also been said that whilst 360 games are already using a high percentage of the systems power due to there similarity to PCs, the PS3 is barely scratching the surface as developers take time to get to grips with it.
I've got a PS3, basically because of PS2 and PS1 and the broad variety of quality games for them.
Even if some exclusives slip to 360 as well, there will still be far more coming to the PS3. (not to mention the Sony developed ones such as God of war, Killzone, Motorstorm, Ico)
Look at the future release lists and unless you can't be without Halo, PS3 has got to be the better bet.

Xbox 360. Just... there's no point defending it with all these stupid Sony fanboys on here. I've got both and my PS3's a big piece of ****. I regret spending all that money on it. Just... get... the 360.
Also, anyone who's anyone and not biased will tell you the Xbox 360 has better & more exclusive games.

that's all in basic terms opinion. 360's are genereally focused greater in direction of jsut the hardcore gamer with titles like gears of war. It does no longer placed lots of an emphasis on multimedia. The ps3, whilst no longer the main universal in terms of video games is able to somethings that the 360 isn't for occasion the blu ray participant. all of it comes all the way down to what you would be utilising it for.
