You will find that the Holy Spirit works with what ever is available to get someone into the Word of God....then it is up to you, your prayer life and your study of the written word (Bible) and the Living Word (Jesus) to be able to understand and know what He is saying to you.

I started out when I was young with a church that Used the KJV and even though I did not understand it, I had no doubt there was a God and there was a son named Jesus.

As I got older and kept searching and studying I went from the KJV, ASV, NASV, NKJV, NIV, NLT, NEV now I am talking all this took over 30 years of study, praying and preaching to learn one thing.

I have no doubt that Scripture in it's original language was written by men inspired by God.

I have no doubt with all the translations that we have today God's word is still there....and if like I have you stay with your studies and prayers you will find that God's word is still in all these translations you just have to be a lot closer to Him to understand which part is His word and which part is man's ideas and mistakes.

There is no doubt in my mind that someone can pick up just the New Testament of any of the above translations and through prayer and study you can know the "Word" of God (Jesus Christ) and from there He will lead you into all the truth you will be able to handle or need to know untill you are with Him for eternity.

For me I use them all in my studies and preperation for Sermons and lessons but then I deliver it in a basic way that even a child can understand.

God bless you in your studies...

There is nothing wrong with the NIV, or most of the translations, for that matter. Really, it is a personal choice and which one speaks to you and makes your study of the Word work for you. We have several different translations in our home. While I study mainly from my New King James, NKJV, I often turn to other translations, including the NIV, for another interpretation. Various teachers in our church use various translations as well

It sounds to me that you may not be happy with your church, more than the type of Bible. That is not unusual, either. As we grow as Christians, sometimes we grow out of our current church.

In His Love,
Sue

A person should search for a church not based on their own beliefs but they should search for a church that teaches truth on which they can base their beliefs...

Heavenly Father speaks to us through the Holy Ghost, not through written word (although sometimes the Holy Ghost will use written word to get His message accross). The Bible is a record of God's dealings with people in the Middle East. It is for this reason that we can study and learn truth from it but to understand how it applies to us RIGHT NOW and what Heavenly Father wants us to do right now, we need to study the scriptures, ponder, and pray for guidance. That guidance will then come through the Holy Ghost (by revelation).

Generally, our Father in Heaven wants us to use our brains and then ask Him if our solution is the right one. He will then confirm the truth to us through the Holy Ghost.

In all reality, it doesn't matter which translation we read as long as we allow the Holy Ghost to teach us what is truth and what isnt. That way we don't assume our own interpretation (or a pastor's interpretation) but we recieve God's "interpretation" (because He tells us what He wants us to understand)...

I hope this has helped! :o)

Stop worrying about the translation and start worshiping the God that is from the Bible. Realize this -- God can use ANY method to teach his people something. This includes the Bible, a song, a person, and many other things. Don't get so caught up in the translation or you will miss things that God is showing you.

A church that denies the Trinity or Deity of Christ is inaccurate All church homes wherein the grace of Christ abides and works is in genuine (if partial and impaired) communion with the genuine Church of Christ i think and profess that the Catholic Church is the Church it quite is the mum Church and the ecclesial physique wherein the genuine Church maximum totally subsists and whose doctrine is the main complete and that i think that the closer a church is to the catholic in doctrine and morality and the place the sacraments are valid is closer to improving the fulness of being genuine Church yet all church homes, in view that they're composed of folk, must be continuously being reformed with the aid of Jesus, the way , the reality and the existence, and back to the supplies: the Bible, Apostolic custom, organic regulation/ suited reason and , fairly God's gracious present of Grace in Jesus with the aid of the Spirit

When I think about all the translations of the Bible, it makes me confused also. As a kid I always knew that there was one true church, and that it wasn't mine. I stopped going after we moved. As an adult, I knew that there was a God, but how taught the true? I found it. I prayed for it.

I do agree with you that there can't be all of these differences and all still be correct. I suggest you study and pray, Heavenly Father will help. Good Luck!!

They all are the word of God, just worded differently. I personally use the NIV and The Message because it is easier for me to understand. The KJV is good too but it is a lot harder for me to understand. Use whatever is easier for you to hear to word of God. Good luck and stick with what works for you. You'll be happier

Why don't you get an Interlinear Bible which gives you the Hebrew and Greek and a word for word translation. Compare this with what different Bibles say- and stop faffing around with this nonsense.
