I just had a unauthorized charge to my credit card because of a cooking item i ordered from a tv infomercial. I did order the gadget, but canceled a few hours later. I thought all was well, till i just checked my account balance. They took money out more then 2 months after i canceled. I have not received anything from them and didnt not want anything. What can i do? I used a debit card if that helps. It's Sunday,so no-one is answering their phone.I'll call tomorrow but hoping someone here had some advice.

You must of received some kind of confirmation number correct?? If so you can use that as a receipt every internet /phone transaction will provide you with this. Did you provide a passcode of any kind?..if so then you agreed to the terms & conditions of the online/telephone contract agreement for financial payment. You must call them first thing Monday & ask them to provide you with a waybill # that they used to send the merchandise to you that will be their proof of them holding up their end of the bargain & sending it to you. That way the merchandise can be traced & you will know whether they have already sent it or it is in holding to be sent.

One more thing..in most cases when you buy online or by phone you made a verbal agreement that the item is purchased. In most cases it gives you a certain amount of time to cancel the purchase. you must ask the customer service rep about their cancellation policy as well..

Good luck

Call your bank and dispute the charges. You may have to get a new debit card.

This is why it's such a bad idea to use debit cards for these kind of purchases. If it were a credit card, it would just be on paper and not money out of your account. It's also much easier to dispute unauthorized charges with a credit card.

This isn't the time to call THEM, call the number on the back of your card.

You may have a much more difficult time with a debit card than a credit card, though (depending on the issuer, as the Federal regulations are different for the two card types.)
