For my children this makes perfect sense. They do pottery & ceramics. In many cases some of the paints appear to be black in the jars and after 3 coats of glaze (paint) is applied to a piece of pottery and then it goes into a kiln, which is a large oven and the temperatures reach as much as 1600 degrees. The glaze melts and when the kiln is cool & the item comes out of the kiln, it is a beautiful shade of green.
So, in this case, yes, black is green. And sometimes red or orange or even brown can be green.
And on the other hand black is green. Because it would depend on the different dye lots that the black is composed of, for instance: go into a shop that sells yarn. Select several different yarns, but pick only black ones, now take these to another part of the store, line them up and step back, you will see that black can be green, or blue or even a hint towards the red side. It's really amazing, most people don't see colors as having a variety.
Then you will have folks give you the book terms for Black, which is supposed to be absence of color, but when you actually look at black---really look and see Black as it is; you will notice more than you thought it would be possible.
I'm sure you have probably gathered that I used color a lot. You'd be right. Everyday of my life. And I want others to really see what colors do & how they make you feel.
This is a link that I found recently, that I think everyone needs to be aware that it's here. I hope this will help you in the future and please pass it on to any teachers or parents.

There are paint jobs for cars that are called Midnight Blue, Midnight Purple. They look black in the daylight hours and under different spectrum's of light (especially night) you can actually see the blue or purple. Midnight Green would have the same effect.

Here's a coloring ditto. Use the code to see what color to use in each space. For instance, black is green, red is purple.
