I like to put dried raspberries and sunflower seeds in my salads. And tomatoes of course. A really good salad I've had lately is when you get baby greens, and add fresh dill, cilantro, and basil to the salad, with a vinaigrette made out of Lemon/lime juice and olive oil.

If you are speaking of a green salad, I like to mix up my greens a bit, between arugula, spinach, red leaf, baby spring greens and escarole. These are nice with thinly sliced red onion, ripe, ripe tomatoes, baby bella mushrooms and avocado. Sometimes I also like to add garbanzo beans or black beans - adds a little protein, plus makes it more colorful!
For a pasta salad, try mixing with some cooked & cooled pasta shells some chunked tuna, chopped red onion, olives, and a touch of lemon juice. Sprinke with salt and pepper, and then I stir in some Helmanns light mayo...yum!

Use several types of lettuce--iceberg, romaine, and leaf are good. Add shredded carrot, chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, and celery. Some sliced mushrooms and crumbled feta cheese are good in it, too. Then you can toss in some drained tuna, chopped imitation crab, thawed frozen peas, grilled marinated chicken or beef, or anything you like.
And ALWAYS use fat-free dressing---I guarantee you'll never taste the difference.
