Raw Food Diet - 10
Canidae - 9
Science diet - 2
Iams - 2
Purina - 1
Nutro Max - 3
Nutro Natural - 5
Eukanuba - 3
Breeders Choice AvoDerm - 4

Science diet, Iams, Nutro Max and most of the others all contain corn which is an absolutely useless ingredient in dog food

please rate 1-10 for each

Science diet - 5 If you decide on Science Diet get Lamb and Rice which is better than the Chicken one.
Iams - 3
Purina - 0
Nutro Max - 4
**Nutro Natural balance - see below
Eukanuba - 5
Breeders Choice - never heard of
AvoDerm - 7
Advanced pet diets - never heard of
Canidae - 9
**If you meant Nutro Natural Choice I would give that a 6 or 7.
If you meant Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance I would give that a 9 (my puppy is currently on that)

Purina has very low quality ingredients which is why I gave 0. Here are some tips I got from vets and trainers about how to choose dog food;
1) Avoid corn - causes digestions problems in most dogs
2) Avoid by-products, wheat and soy
3) The first 5 ingredients should include 2 named meat or meat meal sources (like chicken and lamb meal, etc.)
4) Dogs' digestive systems were not designed to process grains... so the best carb sources are potatoes, sweet potatoes, veggies and fruits (but not grapes).
5) Acceptable grains are rice, oatmeal, barley, millet... but still avoid corn, wheat and soy.
6) Added fat should not be in the first 5 ingredients (should be lower on the list).
7) Vegetarian formulas are generally not recommended as they either have too little protein or the protein comes from soy.

Of the ones you listed I would choose Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance (which my pup is on currently) or Canidae. A lot of people like Canidae and it has good quality ingredients. I rotate my pup's food every 3 months for variety of taste and protein sources and she may go on Canidae next.

10 is the best, 1 is the worst, ? mean I don't know the brand well enough to rate it....or its not specific enough
Science diet - 10
Iams, Purina, Eukanuba - 7-8
Nutro Max, Nutro Natural Balance,Breeders ChoiceAvoDerm/Adavnced pet diets, Canidae - ?
But to get a true answer don't ask a the sells person in the store they want to sell you what sounds good and makes money for them....... and breeders often are used to one brand thats the reason the highly recommend it...they may never tried some of the other once......you vet can give to a true answer - just ask what brand he or she feeds and what she/he rec. for your dog (depending on breed, age and body condition)
...........
Well, not everybody is in to natural holistic dog food (Canidae) (or even holistic human food) and this food is not popular here (where I live).
I would never rate a product I am not familiar with or/and I have not used myself. Just because I am a vet tech does not mean I have to know every food by heart.......

Canidae is by far the best. Science Diet being the second best. Iams/Purina/Nutro are not good brands and are more likely to cause diarrhea in your dog.
Either get Canidae All Stages or Science Diet. I prefer Candiae All Stages because the dog can eat it no matter what age so you don't have to worry about switching foods.

ok the people telling you to get the Canidae are correct but I will tell you why. You can google this to prove it if you want. The major dog food companies use euthanized animals for meat. When you see chicken by-product it usually isn't chicken it could be anything from the cat you had put asleep 6 months ago to the roadkill you drove by last week. Canidae is one of the few natural foods there are a few others out there but as your store carries Canidae I would say use that one

Canidae 10

Canidae is, in my view, the best food out there. You're lucky, because many people don't have a local store that carries it, and we have to order from petfooddirect.com. Get the Canidae. You won't regret it.
