I'd try again. They probably can take it back. They have more resources than you, so I would try to get in touch with them, and write them a long detail letter with dates and times, and if possible copies of web pages.

Don't think that you can outwit them because you can't. Good luck.

What would you have sent through email for 100.00?? If you can show delivery of the item they can't reverse it. Always send something with tracking. If not paypal will always side with the buyer. I know this I was a seller for 7 years and several canadian buyers did charge backs because I was unable to track them online. I do believe they only use your credit card for back up funding. They can't make an unauthorized purchase on your card or you can do a charge back to them. Unless you signed something giving them permission to charge any negative balance to your card they can't. They will however close your account adventually. But if you are really concerned. Maybe you will accidently LOSE your credit card and you can call up the credit card company and report it as "lost" then they will issue you a new number and replace it in about a week. then you have the card and a number that paypal doesn't have.

"I guess the transaction failed and PayPal gave me a negative balance." either the transaction failed or it didn't. This should be fairly easy for you to figure out. "Will PayPal do anything?" They will try to recover the money from the funding sources you provided. If they can't recover from the sources then they will likely sell this to a collection agency "Can they like sue me?" They could. More likely they will sell this to a collector and let the collector sue. The collector would have to file in small claims, they will ask for the amount owed plus interest plus court costs. They just about always win these type cases. It sounds like you are leaving out some of the details. If they can prove that you intentionally ordered and received some merchandise that you had no intention of paying for, you could also be facing some criminal charges (fraud) in addition to the civil matter.

Don't give up so easy, email them and write to them, also get the idiots name and adress. But this is not your fault that pp accepted the bad payment, they should be responsible.
