Do you know the dangers of Halloween season for these particular animals? Shelters won't even adopt them out right ow because freaks want them for Halloween props and sometimes even to use as ritual sacrifices. All cats should be protected all the time but right now these particular cats are in danger if not watched very closely. I have posted this before but I want to reach as many people as I can about this. ♥

The time frame most shelters use to not adopt is mid September until the 2nd week in November.

Thanks for getting your message out there again, PK. I'm spreading the word and most people seem to know about black but not white cats. So keep up the good work. Once when I did a message like this I got a violation for "preaching" so be careful. Pretty sure that I hit a couple nerves w my polemic about 'don't wait til monday to take your cat to the vet because it's cheaper.'

Yes, our local shelter banned the black cat adoptions last year, but they didn't say anything about white ones. I don't think they had any white ones at the time though.
I do not currently have a solid color cat, but I used to have a black one when I was little. He was an indoor cat though.
Outdoor cats face dangers every day. Cats are best kept indoors for their health and safety.

We adopted a black stray years ago who came to us with many old broken bones. I'm sure she was abused many times before we got her... because she was a black cat. We loved her gently until the end of her days, and kept her in days before and days after Halloween. We caught some neighborhood kids throwing handfuls of stones at her one day (she was on our porch, where she would stay to bask in the sun) and I've never seen my husband more angry. Poor thing. At least she had protection with us.

I didn't know! Thanks for the information.
I love all cats. I have 2 right now and can't have another. It just wouldn't be fair to the two of them, but I will think about this seriously the next time I adopt a cat. Both of my cats were rescued cats.

On that note, it's a good idea to keep your pets inside on and around the 4th of July as well, since the fireworks freak them out and are very dangerous.
