I get nosebleeds every 2 days and I always have a stuffy nose. I usually blow out my Mucus if there's too much, if not I just swallow it :) for me to get rid of nose bleeds I go to the sink and blow that bloody booger out, or if there ain't a bloody booger and just blood I get toilet paper and clog the nose. I've had nosebleeds every 2 days and stuffy nose since i was like 4. Now to the question: What should I do to help me get nose bleeds less often and how to not get stuffy nose? Don't tell me to go to doctors because I do. Need some extra help here.

Have the doctors ever told you what is causing the constant bloody nose? For instance, do you have a blood-clotting problem? or sinus infection?

Blowing the nose too much, or picking the nose, and dryness to the nose can cause bloody noses.

Here's some recommendation for relief/prevention of bloody noses:
1. Use a humidifier. (Dry air from cold weather or from heating system in the home can dry out the nasal passages, causing bloody noses. ) If you can't afford a humidifier you can: place a pan of water near a heat source like a radiator, which helps the water evaporate and add moisture in the air.

2. Rub some petroleum jelly around the nasal passages to keep your nose from drying or getting irritated from the excessive blowing of the nose

3. Use a saline nasal spray/mist to keep the nose moist. And may help with clearing the mucous, and nasal congestion. (Where to buy: http://www.walgreens.com/search/search_results.jsp?_dyncharset=ASCII&term=saline+nasal+spray)

4. To stop a bleed, sit upright, pinch the nose for at least 10 minutes until you feel the bleeding has stopped. Clean out any blood with damp cotton/napkin. And avoid blowing the nose or picking the nose at least 24 hours after you have stopped the bleeding. Remember, irritating the nose by excessive rubbing or blowing of the nose can keep the bleeding going on.

5. If you have an excessive bleeding problem you may avoid taking medications that thins the blood such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen. Just stick to Tylenol for pain relief.

6. Drink lots of water! It helps clear out the blood dripping down your throat, and it helps with any dryness that you may experiencing from your nasal passages.

7. If you have a nasal congestion problem which is causing you to blow your nose excessively, thus causing your nosebleeds, try some Sudafed you can get from your pharmacist, after assessment of your age and health condition.

Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem for months and finally found a specialist who successfully cauterised my nose and was told to always put vaseline for healing in my nostrils which I did. An antibiotic should be able to clear up the mucus. Don't blow your nose unless absolutely necessary, snorting is better so they say and then spit it out into handkerchief or tissue and don't put anything but vaseline inside your nostrils. Do not use steam. This has been my experience and happy to share my experiences with you. There was a time when I had to go to the hospital every single day with nosebleeds that would not stop until packed because of the weakened membranes. Keep using new Doctors, until you find the one that can benefit you!

Hie

Nxt tym wenevr ur nose bleeds,

1.Pinch the soft part of the nose and bend forward so dat the blood drains out.
2.Breathe through ur mouth, n spit if any blood comes to ur mouth.
3.Keep Ice packs on the bridge of ur nose and at the back of ur neck.
4.Do not blow ur nose or sneeze hard for at least 4-6 hrs,coz dat might disturb the blood clot.
5. Do not try to pick ur nose simultaneously.

If bleeding continues.......urgent hospitalisation is necessary.

Take care.

The nose bleeds could be due to your sinus problems or it could be due to weak blood vessels as well as high blood pressure.

Cauterisation is a heat sealing process that can heat fuse damaged or leaking blood vessels but a better option would be to strengthen your blood vessels with citrus bioflavonoids.

High strength 3,000 mg garlic capsules should help your sinus problems. Take 4 a day.

Also, switching from mucus generating dairy products and red meat to soy milk and white meat should also help.

Victor, it sounds like you either have chronic sinusitis (which needs a doctor) or swollen nasal turbinates (which need a doctor), possibly both, since they often go together. (Sorry about that no-doctor thing.)

To get rid of chronic sinus infections, which often produce bleeding high up in the nose, takes a full course of antibiotics, and often the first one tried doesn't work.

The turbinates issue requires outpatient surgery, a much bigger deal, but man, it can totally change your life when you can usually breathe through your nose again.

If you're adamantly opposed to medical intervention, consider twice-daily use of a neti pot, flushing the sinuses and nose with either plain water or saline solution.

Even after seeing a doctor you still have this problem? Hmmm....consult a specialist then. He may help you more on this. I used to have nose bleeds and mucus only when i am sick or if there is a pimple in my nose.
