The most important advice anyone can give you is to be ORGANIZED.
Looking back, I realize I could have done a lot better if I had better organized notes, and kept a schedule of what I needed to have finished every week.
Second advice: break up your studying into segments. It's a lot easier to handle the math problems if you do a little bit at a time. It seems to sink in better than if you try to tough it out and just get it over with quickly.
Third, be honest with yourself about how much you study. A lot of people say they study hard, but they really only hit the books for about a total of an hour, while the rest of the time was wasted.
If you're bad in one area, seek help. There are so many types of tutors and ways to get free help. Even easier, you can trade help with your classmates.
Here's a little trick I learned in college. We had a tough Political Science class where we were expected to read sometimes in excess of 200 pages every week from various sources. It would have been impossible to do this alone. Therefore, I formed a study group. Each person was assigned certain texts to read. Then, a summary had to be written. The four of us would get together once or twice a week and compare notes. We indisputably got the best grades in the class. The reason I know this is because the teacher returned the tests in order of test score, best first.
He had a good sense of humor. One day he plopped all four tests on my desk, each one with 100% on each one! With a little mock sterness in his voice he said, "You might as well distribute these, because they are all essentially the same."

Listen to the teacher in class. Do the work given in class. Take good notes, and 'rewrite them' neatly in a notebook or section of a notebook when you get home. Do your homework and 'copy it over' neatly before turning it in. Your grades will 'improve' and get better over the year as you make this into a 'habit.' It may sound difficult, but it is actually very easy ... instead of 'trying to remember' as you are walking to your next class and mixing the knowledge with what you need there, and also trying to be 'social' you are 'setting the knowledge aside' and dealing with it in an organized matter when it's time to 'do your homework.' That 'copying neatly' of the notes and the homework is 'the key' to your improved grades ... COPYING is putting the knowledge in your brain more deeply while you are not 'thinking hard' about it (where it would go to a different storage area).
Does this work? I nearly flunked out of high school before I dropped out. My grade point average in college was 4.5 (4 being an A and the 'highest possible') ... and I did the equivalent of 6+ years of school (through Master's Degree) in 2.5 years. Yes, it works!

Study for tests, litsen to what your teachers say, and if you can't ask a friend about the important stuff. Also, do your homework because it'll help you on tests when they come up and try to make sure you understand everything. If you don't, go to tutoring. What could also help you would be to hang out with a couple of people (if you don't already) who are trying to get good grades and know what's going on. It would be convenient if they had some of your classes, too.

The best way to get good grades is to pay attention in class and do your homework. In other words, study. And if you don't understand something do not hesitate to ask you teachers questions.

i would say you have to be more active in class and... well, as a lot of people would say, work hard
as for me, i sleep at 2 am every night doing my homework because i got a lot of things to do in the afternoon
just, remember, if you hate your teacher, there will be no way you would like the class, so try to like ur teachers better whatever you actually think of them
anyway, you have to justthink of school as easy
i hate math, but i'm good at it
concentrate on what u r good at
good luck ^____^

Always take notes before and after class, make sure you sleep early. And make sure you make the subjects fun, like you want to learn them!
