I witnessed this conversation between a woman and a seller in the bazaar last saturday.I must write it in Turkish, because it is something that you can't convey by tanslating......olay şu:
Pazarcı tezgahını biraz öne almak istiyor ama bir kadın belinin alt kısmı tezgaha dokunmuş vaziyette başka bir tezgahtan alışveriş yapıyor ve aralarındaki konuşma
''Abla hele g**ünü biraz yana çek''
''Salak şey...dağdan mı indin?geri zekalı''
''Ablaa ablaaa terbiyeni bozma ağzına s*ç**ım''

I love street markets very much.

I love street shopping. I regularly visit city flea markets, swap meets, farmers markets... There is something about the vendors, and the customers that makes it unique. Even f I don't buy anything, I like looking around. It is also the best way of getting to know a culture. What they eat, what produce is available, etc... in a farmers' market; or what has been used a decade ago, etc... in a flea market makes you imagine that country's living history. I love it! I also enjoy hunting for antiques. Yet, in the state I live there are hardly any antique street meets... They are usually in a building, where different vendors (people) sell their items. They are not auctions though. I am not quite good at auctions.

I love street markets but the one in Nicosia is not very rich.
The ones in Turkey and in England are very lively, all sorts of fruits and vegetables and other kinds of food. I love the color and the smells. And all the lively sounds :)

I regularly go to the produce markets (semt pazarı). The salesman in our neighborhood are polite people. In a small market like this, a rude salesman can't do business.

I love street and "flea" markets, where one can find antiques, ethnic art, handicrafts, and every kind of unsual things. It' fascinating to me searching and finding among a pile of things a real small treasure that others had not observed....
