Now most people don't like the idea of making cash payments to descendants of slaves as reperations for slavery, yet isn't the concept of "orginal sin" the same idea?

Original sin , like many church beliefs, was dreamed up to give the church more control and power over the people. The biggest control trick, though was the priest forgiving sins . If he could really make you believe that he could forgive , and send you to heaven , or refuse to forgive and send you to hell for the rest of time , he has you right where he wants you .
This is what gave the early bishops power even over the kings . The kings had to beg the bishops for forgiveness .

Concept Of Original Sin

That dude going on about islam.. scary.
Just in reply to what he said.. Christianity also believes that if a child dies they'll go to heaven, yes they're born into sin but they're too young to realise it.
The original sin is what cast us out of Eden. So if you had a child, that child wont be born in the garden of Eden because you live in the world. The price we pay today is for all the sin we commit now. But, at risk of sounding preachy, I'm just trying to answer your question from a christian point of view.. Jesus came and paid the price. The price has been paid.
Imagine you're in court and you owe a million dollars, then some stranger walks in and hands the judge a million dollars.
Will you let that stranger walk back out and never thank him or become his friend? No, if you cared and were thankful you'd chase after him and get to know him.
That's kinda what christianity is all about. Jesus paid the price for the original sin, and we're thanking him for it.

I could later explain what I consider to be the origins for natural sin, for now, this could be considered scientific proof of the same:

The term is epigenetics and I don't know the effects of God's grace and forgiveness in Jesus upon this condition but it is indeed something to think about.

EDIT: I must also say that in not way I am endorsing the Catholic faith, I believe the same still has things to change.

There are two ways of looking at it. One is that God has set up a society of reparation - and prove it.

My take on it is that that way of looking at it is a perfect illustration for what is really going on. Human nature is such that we have the potential to create utopia. We know how to love, we are creative and imaginative, and can nurture the resources of this planet for our common good. HOWEVER - this has never happened, because we are afraid that somebody else will be taking more than they give. The idea of original sin is an allegorical attempt to explain this piece of human nature - the "I want me some me!" side of things. Our reluctance to vulnerability, our distrust, and our penchant to seek blame outside of ourselves (our desire to blame in order to avoid accountability).

Does that make any sense?

Original sin was invented by Augustine of Hippo, about 390 CE. Augustine also invented the concept of the immortal human soul. For these two "accomplishments" -- which have both created endless human suffering -- Augustine was canonized, St. Augustine, by the early Catholic church.

As to the theological details of Original Sin, I am so profoundly anti-Catholic that I could not render a balanced presentation. In fairness, I must leave that to others.

When Adam and Eve sinned it opened their eyes to good and evil. If they never sinned we would never know what evil is. So when we do wrong in our lives it affects everyone around us, and even the future generations. One sin affects all. We are in the lineage coming down from Adam and Eve. So yes the original sin falls to all of us. Jesus died on the cross to cover the sins that Adam and Eve committed. That is why we must ask Jesus into our hearts to cover that sin.

Original sin is a catholic concept used to control the masses. The only purpose of the catholic church is to corrupt the teachings of Christ. There is no mention of it in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What Christ taught is that all sin can be forgiven, if the person asking for forgiveness is sincere, and truly seeks repentance. We are not perfect, we make mistakes, do things that we are not supposed to do, and give in to temptation. What makes Christ's teaching so superior to all others is that he recognized this, and taught us the greatest virtual of all, forgiveness.

Those who refuse to forgive others are arrogant hypocrites, and you must do far better than them if either the kingdom of Earth or Heaven shall be yours.

Adam and Eve proved that even though if we are created in perfection by perfection, we are humans and humans will never be 100%perfect, we will still make mistakes. They also proved how easy we are deceived. Adam and Eve had all intentions of obeying God, but look how easy it was for the serpent to deceive them. This shows how satan is on the prowl looking to trip us up everyday. There are many lessons to be learned from Adam and Eve. And since, as humans, we are not perfect, Jesus the picture of perfect perfection came and made a way for us to still live in the Kingdom of Heaven. All we have to do is accept Him.

Hello ( Adam and Eve),they are the first man and woman created by God and we inherit that sins because we are the present generation. We are borned sinners. Why you blame only Adam and Eve,,,???We are all sinners in nature.

Try to examine yourself if you didn't commit sins.
We did not paid for our sins, you didn't because we cannot do it we cannot be good 100%..
Only Jesus paid for our sins.
Thats why we only rely and accept Jesus in our heart as our saviour and Lord is that hard for you?Salvation is FREE gift from God.,,,Which is The Lord Jesus Shrist...so Just received Him.
