This particular photo is a mediocre snapshot, to start, and a poor job of photoshop. Maybe you have better to show? One lousy image doesn't mean you are a bad photographer, but people tend to show their best work when they ask for critique. So, if this is your best....

Time for getting a few beginning books on photography, and maybe take a class or two. Continue experimenting with Photoshop and learn from the failures as well as the successes. There are many many big books on Photoshop. But good basic knowledge needs to come first. No amount of post processing will make a poor shot fabulous. Start learning and keep practicing.

Aside: Dr Sam, I think the crud might be braces?

Your question is are you a good photographer. The answer is no. Your not a photographer at all.

You take pictures. In fact, they are classic snapshots if this image was an example. In the end, after 'photoshopping' them, you have photoshopped snapshots.

If you think that is my being unkind, take a look at the work of a 15 year old real photographer:

See any difference?

I don't like this ONE shot that you are showing us. Her neck and hair are in such sharp focus that it makes it obvious that her face has been altered. If you are going to soften or blur a photo, make the whole thing look about the same. While you are at it, get the crud off of her teeth. Sorry, but I'm a dentist and I can't help myself sometimes.

forget about that . go out take tons and tons of photos like hundreds . most of them will suck. a few of them you will really dig. these will make you happy and they will make you want to get better. so then you will take a course at your local college perhaps. and then you will take tons and tons more photos. and then perhaps you will be able to decide for yourself whether or not you are a good photographer. The most important thing thought is keep taking photos.
