The antibiotics will help it feel better but will not cure the abcess until the tooth is removed. When the tooth is removed you should only feel pressure , no pain. The Antibiotics help take down the infection so the antistetic can work better when getting you numb. It may be sore afterwards and you will need to finish the antibiotics so the infections can be cured.

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. The tooth will still be sore with the snitbiotics, but not nearly as much. The infection can NOT heal entirely until the tooth is removed. Once that is done, most of the infection will drain. So in actually, you should have very little sorreness at all. The most important thing is to NOT rinse or suck on a straw or smoke for at least 24 hours.
Then do this; Rinse with salthy wam water 3-4 times a day. The last at bed. This will help heal and remove infections. Eat very bland cool, cold foods for 3-4 days until site begins to heal. Remember to rinse with salty water to remove food and bacteria. With-in 3-4 days you should be back to normal and just sticking you tongue in the emply socket lol. You will be fine I promise. Good luck M

The antibiotics are to help make the infection go down, the soreness should go away a bit before the extraction and it won't hurt that much with the drugs they give you. And trust me, you will feel MUCH MUCH better with that tooth out of your mouth.
