I have a friend who is extremely skinny. She's 5.2" and weights 97 lbs but she has cellulite on the backs of her upper thighs and stretch amrks on her buttocks and the backs of her knee. I don't get it. I'm 5.5" and I weight 120lb and we both don't work out and I don't have cellulite or stretch amrks. I don't understand. I thought only people who gained alot of weight rapidly got stretmarks like in pregnancies. She's too skinny, and she hates her legs. What could she do? Her mother who doesn't know she has this problem bought her a bunch of short shoerts and she wants to wear them, but she wants to get rid of the cellulite and stretch marks. What can she do?
btw, she does not have fatty foods or any red meats in her diets. she only eats vegatables, fruits, pastas and white meat.

My friend has been skinny throughout all of her life, and I know this because we've been next-door neighbors since we were 2.

Stretch marks are a normal part of puberty for most girls and guys. When a person grows or gains weight really quickly (like during puberty), that person may get fine lines on the body called stretch marks. Stretch marks happen when the skin is pulled by rapid growth or stretching. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it's overstretched, the normal production of collagen (the major protein that makes up the connective tissue in your skin) is disrupted. As a result, scars called stretch marks may form.
If you're noticing stretch marks on your body, you're not alone. Most girls and women have stretch marks, which tend to show up on the breasts, thighs, hips, and butt. Many women get them during pregnancy. And while they're more common in girls, guys can get stretch marks, too.
People who are obese often have stretch marks. Bodybuilders are prone to getting stretch marks because of the rapid body changes that bodybuilding can produce. Stretch marks also may occur if a person uses steroid-containing skin creams or ointments (such as hydrocortisone) for more than a few weeks, or has to take high doses of oral corticosteroids for months or longer.
At first, stretch marks may show up as reddish or purplish lines that may appear indented and have a different texture from the surrounding skin. Fortunately, stretch marks often turn lighter and almost disappear over time. But the fact that stretch marks usually fade and become less noticeable over time can be little consolation if you plan to spend most of your summer in a bathing suit.
Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer of the skin that contains constricting bands of connective tissue. This connective tissue, which varies in thickness and is laced with fat cells, is held in place by a network of fibers that protects our body, cushioning our muscles and organs; it is surrounded by a liquid that both nourishes it and provides it with an effective waste system. When all is working well in the system, waste products are removed and smooth curves result; when fats, fluids and toxins are trapped deep in the skin (below the epidural layer), however, the connective tissue thickens and hardens, giving a dimpling effect. As we mature, the layer of skin thins, resulting in the rippled appearance of cellulite.
What is the difference between cellulite and fat? Though everyone has a smooth layer of fat, individual amounts depend on weight, lifestyle and genetics. This fat layer is an insulator for the body and cushions the organs, muscles and nerves. Cellulite, on the other hand, is lumpy and provides no padding whatsoever. It only occurs in certain areas of the body: the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and breasts. When men get cellulite, it tends to be on the neck and abdomen.
Cellulite is not necessarily a factor of body weight. You don't have to be heavy to have cellulite. Though diet and lifestyle affect cellulite formation, a large part of cellulite is comprised of toxins and fat that build up in the body, and can affect women of any size, weight and body structure.

I am so busy with my 5 kids (all under 8 years old!) and I hate exercising and dieting, life's too short! So I thought the only option for getting rid of my ugly cellulite was to book in with a set of weekly medical roller treatments. Job done.
However, they cost me a monstrous $3000 and, you guessed it, did absolutely nothing. I couldn't believe it. It left me thoroughly depressed.
I saw this info on the web and I gave it a go, what did I have to lose now! And, my god this is genius. Quick and easy. I feel so wonderful in my new, smooth, renewed figure! I am a yummy mummy now!

I know what you mean and what you are going through right now..Those white dents WAS your cellulite ..Its just that it shrank as you lost the weight. What people don't understand is that cellulite will never go away .. Its sad but true. It won't be as obvious as when you were bigger though. You can make them even more less obvious by rubbing some cocoa butter on it..

As far as the stretch marks go it can be cause from a rapid growth spurt (not just being fat). Weight Lifters get them from fast muscle growth, they are more than likely a fact of life for her. Some people seem to be immune from them I think heredity plays a part in that. I know I got stretch marks on my breasts growing up due to rapid growth I went from AA nothing to a DD cup in about 5 months. It was too fast for my skin to catch up.
As far as her cellulite its where her body decides to place the fat stores. Where we want to admit the female body is designed for one reason only and that is to reproduce and carry a baby. Are bodies are forever preparing to carry a baby. So our bodies become very efficient in storing fat so that we can have give birth to a healthy baby. That is why women have such a hard time losing weight our bodies are continually "fighting" us since it could be come pregnant at anytime.

Sweetie...Stretch marks only appear for one reason. Either she was heavier at one time and lost weight very rapidly or she maintained that heavier weight for a long time creating the stretch marks to begin with. Skin can only stretch so much before it 'gives.'
Cellulite is a different story. You say she doesn't work out but if she has the tendency toward cellulite she needs to start replacing that fatty tissue with muscle.
Skin types vary and you've been lucky thus far. One thing you can do though is work out with her. It will help to ensure you never get cellulite and give your body an overall toned look that will serve you well in the years to come.

Stretch marks are caused by the body changing before the skin can adapt. This can be by gaining muscle or weight, but in this case it seems this means she went through puberty quickly. Meaning that she got her womanly shape while having pretty tight skin, so it stretched. The remedy is moisturizing with things like Vitamin E or Cocoa Butter.
Cellulite is how the fat organizes itself under the skin. It has nothing to do with how much fat there is (though all girls have a little). The issue is redistributing the fat. Tell her to massage the area every day for a while, and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. By keeping the skin hydrated, this will make the skin tighter and hide the cottage cheesy look!
Its not because she's fat, and not necessarily because she was fat in the past. I have a friend who is like a stick but her breasts grew so quickly that she wont wear lower cut shirts because of the stretch marks.
