Yeah, but only if you are departing from some where in the United States and you have to be an US citizen. Every airline does prefer a government issued ID (like a driver's license or a state ID card) so use that if you have one and dont use your school ID if you have one of those.

You cannot fly into San Francisco from another country without your valid passport.

I think so, unless you are coming in from outside the US, then you will need a passport. You have to have a picture ID to clear security, so if your school ID has a pic you should be OK. You can get a state ID card in a lot of states, it would have a pic.

If you're a US Citizen and start from within the US then surely you do not need a passport at all.

Might be a good idea to carry some additional ID though.

If your travelling from outside then US then No.

You will need an ID from your state or government. You can get one at any age.
