I know Jake and Elwood seemed to absoutely love their Crown Vic. Don't forget those suped-up cruisers prolly come with cop tires on 'em. Like 14-20 ply of almost unstoppable rubber, there. The cars've prolly been abused, but well-maintained. Get one if you can afford the gas.

There are pro`s and cons to buying police cruisers, such as higher output alternater, heavier duty brakes and suspension. But even though they were maintained {maintenance when needed} they`re generally wore out. Plus they`re sometimes butchered from removal of equipment and the paint job is trashed from sticker removal or painted over with a spray can. They`re usually cheap though and if you want to confront some of these issues it is possible to get a good one if you know some one at the police garage who might give you a little inside scoop as to the cars condition.

the police departments keep the maintenence on those to top standards. The oil is changed before it is needed as well as every other service is.

That being said we drive them very hard. They are really pushed.

The thing about it is you could get lucky or get unlucky. what I mean is they department could just be up for new cars and the car could be just fine or it could be that the department is getting rid of a car becuase they had problems with it. Find out how long the car has been in service this should give you a clue.

I would pass on buying one. You need to realize that they have had many different drivers and most don't care about how they treat them. High milage is another concern. Do you have any idea of how well it was maintained? 90,000 is low for a police vehicle. Most cities keep their vehicles for well over 200,000 miles. There may be other problems and that is why it is for sale.

Let me tell ya, the most abused cars on the road are Forest Service trucks and police cars. They've been well maintained, but by the time they're retired, they're "tired." They're just about shot, or the departments wouldn't be getting rid of them.

Drunks have thrown up in the back seat, they've run over curbs, they've driven on sidewalks and though areas where there is no road, they've been used to tap cars being pursued, they've had their windows kicked by loser teens in handcuffs, the list goes on and on.

those cars was kept up better than we keep our own cars up,all police departments have their own maintenance crew,so they will last a long time, they don't get rid of those vehicles because there worn out they just renew them every few years,so you might get a good deal on one, good luck with it.

you'll be haunted by the ghosts all the criminals and thugs (and sometimes innocent victims) that were cuffed and stuffed in the back seat.

It might be fun to see other drivers slow down when they see you coming, thinking you're a cop in an unmarked car.

Pro - camero engine, people think you're a cop and act guilty
Con - con ghosts

I WOULD SAY NO BECAUSE THEY ARE WELL MAINTAINED BUT THEY HAVE HAD THE SNOT RUN OUT OF THEM AND MOST OF THEM ARE LIKELY ON THEIR LAST LEG ANYWAY.
