I hadn't even considered teenagers before. But now I think that by letting illegals get all the newbie jobs we might be keeping teens from landing their first jobs and building up resumes.
I had thought that by making it hard to get jobs which required little or no skills it would motivate Americans to better themselves and continue their education.

I didn't mean agricultural jobs but babysitting and working in restaurants. I've noticed less young people working with food preparation or as cashiers, cartguys and baggers than before.

Not really. Almost all of the people expressing apparently opposing views just rant and rave against illegal immigrants without offering a single rational contribution towards a solution. They talk in terms of mass deportation, which is expensive and impractical, and just vent their anger at illegal immigrants in general.

I appreciate your point about the teenagers but it is rare that most teenagers would want many of the jobs that illegal immigrants perform. There are usually better minimum wage jobs going begging, at least where I live.

There is nothing to be learned by reading the rants against illegal immigrants except to appreciate the amount of hate that the issue engenders. I believe that we need comprehensive immigration reform and that we need to have practical approaches.

EDIT: Several of the other answers only support what I’ve stated. They offer no rational, realistic solutions and just rage against illegal immigrants. This doesn’t help.

the form that are rude and don't answer the question. Like when I asked approximately denominations communion practices the day gone by. lots of got here on telling me why they theory particular practices have been unscriptural, or judging me by ability of asserting that i became too into ritual (i'm no longer- my own church is incredibly modern, I in basic terms enjoy a ordinary ceremony as quickly as each few years.) relatively of in basic terms answering the question, everybody spouted off comments approximately all forms of issues. Catholics got here on and suggested connect their church even nonetheless I exact protestant became what i became finding for. i'm non denominational, as such i be chuffed to fellowship with any denomination whilst i pick, as long because it does not violate their own policies. yet an undesirable lot of folk acted as though i became a technique or the different incorrect for being prepared to try this. besides, so thats it... people who're rude and in basic terms pick to spout an opinion relatively than answer the question.

You are right about American teenagers losing jobs to illegal aliens. I learned that there are just as many racists, if not more, among the pro-illegal alien groups as are in the anti-illegal alien groups. I was surprised to learn that some liberals were against illegal immigration, as most Dem Senators and all the Dem presidential candidates have sold out to La Raza on the issue.

Illegal immigration as we know is against the laws & agains the laws to work or be hired>Since legals did work in the lower end jobs with higher wages with health care & insurance> Since the illegals work for less & No health care or insurance as the get free medical at the hospitals till they close> So we all are affected by the illegals & the corpect employers>With the support of some of the Liberal Gov>>

Yes. The intelligent would. Even when you read the rants , it helps us understand the minds of others. Most stuff I learn is from e-mails from people I have met hear though. This site can get hairy at times. It fustrates me that people don't understand that when we debate, we should argue back and forth destroying the othersides false statement.

Good point. You also have to consider the unskilled poor, who have done jobs like painting, janitorial and gardening for decades in order to support their families and try to better their families. (My husband, who is an engineer, helped pay his way through college working in the tobacco fields.)

In answer to your question, yes...I've found that I feel some sympathy for those children who are illegals but have been raised here most of their lives. I'm very angry at their parents for putting them into a horrid position, and, although I don't want to reward bad behavior, I think something could be done to make it easier for them to return to the US after they willingly leave to try to make things right. For instance, perhaps their immigration status should be on a higher priority...perhaps under a fiance visa...BUT I don't think it should be easy or automatic. And I DO think they should have to return to their own country to apply, even if they have to wait a year or even 2. If their aren't consequences, even to the nearly innocent, others will take advantage.

Thanks for a thought provoking question.

Have I learned new information from reading the opposing viewpoint? Absolutely. Usually it just reinforces my views, not minimizing them though.

As someone posted last night, at the end of the day, this is an issue that you are either processing with your head or your heart.

Not much compromise between those two.

People like the first poster would love it if you actually believe that the only job illegal aliens do is "picking fruits and vegetables", and little Miss "top contributor" would be ecstatic if you would believe that the only jobs illegals have are those Americans don't want. What BS.

Even Meow Mix now realizes this is wrong.

Yes, I have learned that if you oppose illegal immigration you are a racist. If you oppose laws that allow illegals to get government benefits you are called a racist.
If you oppose the dream act, you are called a racist.
Yes I have learned a great deal about opposing views.

Not really. And many of those illegals are teens -- who have been educated in our schools.
