A business will falter if a business divulges any of its secrets.
If "Truth" is given "Light", all the darkness would be dispelled!
"Sensitive" is the key word

Most of the Vatican's Libraries ARE open to the public.
Three are not. One is loaded with the oldest documents. These are so extremely fragile with age that they are kept in a special room with argon for air and a steady temperature. Trust me, you don't WANT to go in there.
Another has the private documents and wills of various individuals through the church's history, not all of these being those of churchmen. They're PRIVATE. Hopefully that concept is not totally foreign to you. The third has most of the controversial writings from various heretics and schismatics. You can get in there with permission but you have a better chance if you're a scholar in a field that requires you to have more knowledge about these groups. Say, Comparative Theology, or Soterioloigy, or Eschatology, or well....you get the picture.
Getting permission to study the Vatican Library contents is a matter of getting a letter from the bishop where you live, having academic credentials and a need to know.
You'd have a harder time getting into the FBI's files.

I have heard that the books they are not releasing to the public are not so much derogatory to the Catholic Church, but are actually a vindication of pre-Christian belief systems. One of the ones I would like to have a look at is an alleged second saga of Heimdall.

Well many of that stuff is really old so they probably don't want people messing with the proof (or lack of proof) I know that they are actually trying to copy the documents on to disks to preseve them. But I think they also might be hiding something.

You might find some minor books but would the Vatican keep books written by leaders that are against the church. That would be to damning and I think they would have destroyed them. If you remember they killed several branches of the church, they tried to kill Martin Luther. Do I need to say more?

They've been hiding such books since the 4th century. You think they'll open the archives now?
Hardly.

I definitly think that they fear us knowing what's in those archives, or we would be able to see them. If they think their God is so choosey that they won't allow normal people to research and view the ancient texts, why do they worship him?
