The soul performs actions through the body. The body alone never does anything (it is just lifeless matter). The soul alone - without the body is beyond action and therefore beyond sin.
The sins are performed by the soul through the body.
If the actions are sinful (if they give and take sorrow) then the soul will, ofcourse, experience sorrow. If the actions are charitable (give and take happiness) then the soul will experience happiness.
Thus the soul is influenced by the effect of Karma perfomed through the body. If the soul would be imune, it would never experience sorrow. The sign of sin is always the experience of sorrow and the experience of sorrow is always a sign that we have missused either our phizycal or subtle body (mind, intellect and sanskars). Whatever body we missuse - that body will give us sorrow so as you see sins are concerned with the soul through the body. It is through the body that sins are performed and through the body that they bring suffering to the soul.

It's kinda like our shortcomings are thinking about doing something wrong. I don't think that's really a sin, as we often think of things without our approval. When we act upon the wrong decision, it becomes a shortcoming. As we had a choice, and we chose to do wrong. I believe this is a sin. It was considered, and the decision was made. Therefore, I say it is a sin of the soul, and not the body. Besides the body is just a cage for our soul anyway.

Both. In catholicism, anything that can be considered fun in the world is a sin. So, if u consume some liquor, it's considered a sin, because u are polluting the temple of God(which is our bodies), and He can't reside in his temple when it's polluted. Plus, ur slowly killing urself(it's the belief that once u start, u don't stop), and that violates the fifth commandment. U can violate ur soul by this too, since ur body is there to glorify the Lord on Earth, and u just defiled it by ur worldly action. U disobeyed God's command to keep ur body pure, and so it has consequences for ur soul, since that only puts even further distance between u and God.

Body commits the sin and soul promptly records its gory details. The body suffers the physical chastisement for sins. The soul simply records whether after chastisement man has learnt or not. Body is the Doer, Soul is the witness and GOD is the Judge.

Sin is so debilitating because it is an idea of having done something that is unforgiveable, and because it feels like something unfixable about the self, it constrains the person's ability to experience 'full aliveness.'
Shame of this kind is psychological superglue and is imprinted into the mind/body system during early development. The soul is damaged until this learned identity is transcended by grasping that there is no unforgiveable error. Until then reality responds to the internal conflictedness by replicating the original belief in the 'unfixable error' again and again throughout life.

Sin is a moral issue so it concerns the soul. A body is your vessel that houses your soul

No i believe that sins aren't concerned with either the soul or body DiReCtElY....A person usually creates a sin when his or her mind over comes them with a certian emotions(jelously, anger, sadness, fustration). these are known as distructive emotions. Sins may effect the body very much or little depending on how sever the sin may be. Sins may effect the soul if you believe in rebirth. It might effect your next life.

Sin is related to the mind the seat of the soul. What is sin to one society is not a sin to another . so it is based on the culture and philosophy of the people concerned .

I think sins are concerned with the soul. Body can desire, mind can reason, wonder, dream, but the soul is where we get weak and let it happen. When we are spiritually strong, strong faith, strong connection with God, with the spirit guide and with Jesus in our lives, we tend to control our impulses better. The body still desires, the mind can still wonder/dream, but the soul follows the higher instructions. The more enlightened, more control over him/herself.
Peace!
