Yep, that was pretty intense. Looks like the Sharks are finally showing some of that killer instinct they were lacking last year. It took the Sharks a while to get it going last year so i hope this year they come out on fire to start the season.

On a side note, Devin Setoguchi is looking great! I hope he makes the team. JR scored and looks to have some jump in those legs. He'll probably tire as the season goes, but since we run 4 lines, he should have just enough energy for the season. His leadership though, will be invaluable.

The Canucks looked terrible out there as the Sharks were skating circles around them all night. The score was flattering for the Canucks but then again they only had 7 regulars in the line-up. I think the fights were more a result of Vancouver's frustrations than the Sharks' feistyness.

McIver was in two fights not because of anything the Sharks did but because Vancouver is loaded on D and he's trying to make the team.

JR scored a goal but that had more to do with Marleau's great passing (of course JR still has a good shot). Other than the goal JR didn't do much. I thought Grier played a good game for the Sharks except for the stupid holding the stick penalty and the even stupider unsportsmanlike call. The replay clearly showed that it WAS a penalty.

Anyway the real Canucks will show up in the real season when it counts. Go 'nucks!

I saw it. McIver for Vancouver's just trying to make the team! As an SJ fan it was good though - Marleau in my opinion was the #1 reason why we lost against Detroit. So it's good that somebody fights him and it's also good that nobody else on the ice stepped in to fight McIver for him. Marleau's the darn captain and so he has to get it done. He didn't get it done in seasons past so it's good that his teammates, as a sign to him, let him fight McIver. That was a good fight for both sides I think. It was great that McIver's trying whatever it takes to stay on the roster as Vancover's 6th D. You have tip your hat to a guy trying like that, picking the captain into a fight.

McIver really won you're right I think. Clowe beat his guy but he's so darn big and he's a Newfie, how's he gonna lose except to sb like Boogaard or Laraque or whatever. Rivet did get a few big punches in against his dude, I don't remember who the dude was. Murray and Davidson took dumb penalties but I think they were just trying to prove something, to make sure they stay on the roster.

My opinion: Definitely McIver for Vancouver and Setoguchi for SJ ought to make their teams. Go Sharks!
