More or less, yes. The aggressor will get a beating. NATO, being a military alliance, guarantees that if a member nation is attacked, the rest of the members must aid it (If the threatened nation needs it). With that being said, if the USA was attacked all other nations must help it. That includes, the UK, Canada, France, Germany etc.

NATO has Article 6 of the treaty, which says that an attack on one is an attack on all. It has only been invoked once. That was after the attack on America and explains why there is a NATO force in Afghanistan and a NATO naval force patrolling the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea seeking out the terrorists.

No one at first. Until the USA asks for assistance. Take for example the problem Turkey has with Kurdish terrorists hiding out in Iraq. If Turkey seeks assistance, NATO which includes member, the USA will definitely step in

the governments involved in NATO all have weak forces it is up to the US to defend them all. that being said after 9/11/01 germany did send a squadron of fighters over to patrol.
