Look at humans. We have the capacity to create, that energy is within us, part of us, part of our essence. They are one and the same for the Creator as well.

When a female give birth to offspring, she is connected by umbilical cord. But after birth it is detached and creation exists!
Remember, she may die at any time but creation is there!

Like wise, this world is also created by some one and the creator may exist or may not ! You can't prove by argue. And there is no solid proof of such things.

So, creator is not dependent on creation, and his existence also. The only thing we can do is to find rational of it. And it is hard to achieve by all. Those who have found don't show up and who speaks about it may not be knowing much !

Don't get upset or touchy about it ! Try if you wish you may find the answer your self and that will be the best of all. - Bapu

If there is no creation, how can there be a creator? A creator of what? I can claim to be a creator, but if I've not created anything then what would I be?

Good question. Creation describes WHAT God has done, not WHO He is. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: He is NOT Creater, Redeemer, and Sanctifier.

There are some liberal Catholics who try to make the sign of the cross "gender neutral" by saying "In the name of the Creater, Redeemer, and Sanctifier." That is bad theology, because it makes God dependent on man and creation. It describes His ACTS, but not WHO He is. Any Catholics out there reading this need to remember that.

Creator is complete without its creation.

He would be incomplete if He was one, single being. I believe in the Trinity.

creativity or capability to create is an charactersitics..And creation is an action..These are two differents aspect. A person can have characterstics of getting angry even if he never got angry, and the moment the person gets angry we say that he acted upon his characteristics or attribute.. So, Creater can exists even before He created anything, and when He creates, that will be his action..
In short two different aspect have been mixed in your question..1) Capability or potential to take some action and 2) the action itself.

Yes, He does exist before the creation.

He existed "before" the things which He brought into being. We have trouble with this because we cannot understand an "eternal" being or even eternity outside of time.
